If I had to guess the hp rating, I would have to say around 450-475rwhp since I have a healthy street port with the T88 (thumper) turbo.

I'll be calling RA for some replacement. (probably not gonna use it).

Full boost is around 4300rpm and slowly creeps to around 10psi at 7rkpm.

The early runs had a know warping issue. Exact same results you have.

It was how they ground the seals.

It's since been taken care of.

I've ran a few sets myself with out any problems.

They survived one guy's car with audible pings. I'm personally sold on them. Especially after hearing pinging that loud.

As you can see from the previous posts, the seals that warped are from an early defective batch.

Maybe he should put one of those 199.7 liter new Z06 motors in it, hell it would have a lot of torque and sound like a real muscle car and if it doesn't fit he could always spend $20 grand on it and 5 years building it for nothing at all.

On the other hand I am sure this many people wouldn't pay to ride in it.............

Did you have sufficient oil on the rotor housings?

I am doing a 20b conversion pretty soon to my 1st gen. I already have the transmission, rear end and most of the engine parts. I love the sound of the 3 rotor. Steves car felt good and the throttle response was so much more chrisp than a 2 rotor. First I want to see how the 13B REW does in my 1st gen! Steve will hopefully tune it at the end of the month.

Proving yet again stock mazda seals are the best. Sorry to see you have to go through the trouble of pulling your engine out Steve. Sounds like she is going to be a winner though regardless.

Just so everybody know. This will be my 3rd teardown on the engine. The first two times were caused by a bad injector clip causing the secondary injector not firing at boost. I could only made one boost pull and pops the engine. This time is definately warp apex seals since I can hear the overlap. When doing a compression test, I see even compression on all faces (30psi). There's no reason for it to be warp since it was so rich. I don't know if I have the early batch of seals or not but I got these in Jan or Feb of 04. Never wanted to put it in any customers car and has been sitting here for awhile. I figured why not try them and see how well they hold together. I'll call tracy later today and see if he'll send me some newer seals to try.

Because even though some of us don't particularly like rotary engines, we still own RX-7s, and the name of the forum is RX-7 Club.com, not Rotary Club.com. Some of us are also major contributors of technical information, and in some cases, forum donations.

Yes, In spite of the fact that Jim no longer has a rotary in his rx-7 he does contribute a lot of good info on this forum....Keep it up Jim...Cant wait to see your car when it's done..

I too, am baffled by your intrest to spread malice in a rotary dominated community.

It can't be about sticking it to the man....cuz you ****** WORK for the man.

I mean come on, how many non-rotary Rx-7's are there? 50? 100? Probably less than 15 V8 FD's nationwide. So you're telling me these people are the "major contributors of technical information, and in some cases, forum donations" ?!?!?!?

Hmmm... forum donations...ya, here's an idea...How bout we start a BAN jimlab fund raiser and we see how high it goes?

Why must the 99% of us that DO own rotary Rx-7's have to read this anti-rotary propaganda all the time...

There's actually quite a few v8 fd's out there, most of the owners probably stay away from this forum because of the **** they would receive for it. JIMLAB just takes it and spits it back out.

And as much as I don't care for Jim, he does contribute a lot to this forum. Some guys like redheads, some like brunettes... Nothing wrong with either

On topic: I have never seen a 3-rotor in person yet had a ride in one. Someday... someday...

I make a joke about Ted and the myth that 20Bs are indestructible, and that's spreading malice?? That's news to me.

At least one of them is.

However, many contribute technical information which has nothing to do with their choice of engine. Regardless of what you think, the car doesn't cease to be an RX-7 simply because the engine has been replaced with one from another manufacturer. Contrary to popular belief, you can learn something from someone who has a V8 in their car. They're likely a lot more familiar with the electrical system and other sub-components of the car than someone who doesn't.

Hmmm... forum donations...ya, here's an idea...How bout we start a BAN jimlab fund raiser and we see how high it goes?
Fine with me.

I don't believe I've ever posted anything that concerned you directly, yet you choose to become involved anyway. On the other hand, you could also choose not to read it or just let it slide and move on. Have you ever stopped to consider why it bothers you so much and what that says about you?

Why must the 99% of us that DO own rotary Rx-7's have to read this anti-rotary propaganda all the time...
Considering that 99% of you DO own rotary RX-7s, you'd think you wouldn't care so much about what the remaining 1% has to say...

Did I ever say you attacked me directly? WTF are you talking about?

"Read it and let it slide and move on"....LOL...This is almost the definition of
hypocrite, coming from a forum addict with 9,000+ posts....

So anyway jimlab, since you chose not to answer the question I asked, here it is again....

How many RUNNING V8 FD's are there?
