MD right hand drive to left hand drive ?

Has anyone done a right hand drive to left hand drive ? Is it possible ? I know back in the day like with my old VW beetle, they left the factory with provisions for either side. I guess if I was a mail man I could get used to right hand drive.

Possible? Yes. Anything is possible with time and money. However, it's just better to sell what you have and purchase what you want.

if your saying you have a rhd fd your best bet would be just trade or sell it, and get an lhd. that jdm tax will certainly get you a nice profit. converting it is a waste of money and time, i prefer driving rhd myself.

Why would you have to be a mailman to get used to RHD. I don't deliver any mail, and it hasn't been a difficult adjustment for me.

The VW Beetle was a lot simpler car. With used parts it certainly can be done but I'll bet there are 200+ hours of labour (ignoring the time trying to find parts). Forget about doing it with new parts - you'd probably spend more than the price of the car.

jdm tax ???????? i am from canada. is there a jdm tax in the US?

i think the best thing to do is get a USDM roller and put your jdm parts in it $3000-$6000

He is speaking figuratively. They can't get JDM cars there as easy as we can, so people are willing to pay a premium for a car that is RHD because it is unique. It's not an actual tax.

I have a RHD car in the US, and I don't know why you would want to convert the car back to LHD. I had no problem getting used to the RHD after a day or two. Like said, I would just sell the car for a premium or get a US spec roller and swap your parts over if you have the time.

I have an RHD and have been looking into this as well.

Basically, it's not worth doing.

You need the following LHD parts to do it at all properly)

Firewall (or cut yours - but I'm sure this is a pain in the ***)
Steering rack
Not 100% sure if the pedals can be swapped - but they might be able to be. Each one is separate I believe?
Clutch lines
Heater hoses
ABS unit and brake lines
Dash
Door panels
Door handle assemblies/door cables
Basically every wiring harness in the car from the seats foreward, the cluster harness, fuse box harness, ECU harness, etc are all swapped left to right
Complete HVAC system except the blower motor - but everything else is different
To do it proper you'd want to swap the wipers/wiper motors/wiper harness and the upper piece to the firewall as well - or drill more holes - you'd also need the trim piece that goes under the wipers
Hood cable
Hatch cable
Fuel release door cable
Accellerator cable
-- Probably more stuff too that I've forgotten about.

Anyways, I did a ton of research into it - and I think it's just not worth it. Learn to love RHD.

RHD cars are a little tougher to get used to because everything is set up for LHD cars, like drive thru's for example. I guess you could go through them in reverse if you're alone, might get some weird looks.

I was just using it as an example like everyone else does in every other "can I convert this car from RHD to LHD" or "how much $ to convert this RHD car" or "what do I need to convert this RHD car" thread that pops up and others say just to buy LHD to begin with. Settle down.

This guy went from RHD to LHD and made a lot of pics:

http://www.jeroentje.nl/index.php?pa...view&car_id=12

The car used to be a RHD auto, now it's a LHD manual, he didn't do the tranny swap himself. He bought it as a manual.

hi

Hi;
I got my RX7 sometimes ago, and it is RHD.
Some people asked me if I sale, of course I sale it, but they asked if it is possible to convert from RHD to LHD. By for those who wants to know from where I bought then here you go those guys web site.
http://www.JDMAutoDepot.com

Furthermore, how much actually it cost, and is it reliable, because I heard that some people when they convert, after driving a couple millage the steering wheel blocks...
and then... you are gone.

Thanks everyone for the support.

cheaper to buy a new one and just swap rather to do the conversion

its about as cost effective as converting from RWD to FWD. Just buy the right platform to begin with.

Besides that you need firewall, LHD ABS unit brake lines half of interrior trim .
My 0,02 would be to get a LHD roller to do a proper conversion.
Also as of what I remember body wiring harness is a little bit diferent too - so mainly its not worth.
