Replacing rear main seal...?

I was told by a fellow RX7 owner that when I replace the rear main oil seal I also need to replace the housing. Is this true because that seems almost excessive for a rear main seal?

Smile

Yeah I was watching the atkins rotary dvd the other day and then I remembered the advice this guy gave me. The way you replace the rear main seal didn't look like it really implied a replaced rotor housing especially since I have heard of people reusing the housing for their rebuilds.

Thanks for reconfirming what I already believed

The rear main seal is located in the rear stationary gear housing, which bolts to the rear iron (not rotor housing).

there is a seal located in the front cover that the front of the e-shaft slides through.

replacing the rear main seal? basically a clutch job, with a little more pain-in-the-*** thrown in
