Replacing front windshield and rubber. Parts catalogue trouble

Hi folks.

I'm planning to get my windshield and the rubbers replaced. I was about to order the rubber seals from Mazda Japan with the help of Daioni-san. But I came up with this uncertainty.

Here's for a start

What I need is do a full replacement of front windshield rubbers.

But by looking at the two pictures above. I do not know which is which. I thought all I need is just the outside rubber and the spacer (2nd pic) with parts number #63-902 and #50-891A.

If that's the case, what 's 50-6B1B and 50-501A (first pic).

The pictures are off series 8 catalogue given by Daioni-san but when I look back at the US-spec catalogue (from the sticky thread), the same thing came up.

Anyone has ever change their front windshield yet?

I think the one under the windscreen (63-902) is the tar strip that seals it to the car. Most glass shops will have the tar strip when they replace it. So the ones you will probably need to get are the two outer ones (50-501A & 50-6B1B).

The aftermarket glass installer will cut through the rubber seal (gasket), leaving the base of the original seal on the window frame and then laying down a new bead to join what is left of the original rubber to the new windsheild. So, if the glass is removed properly, you don't need a new gasket.

here's a few examples (just two from this week)...

FD heater core
mazda australia price: A$1000
mazda japan price: A$300 (and that includes 3-5 day tracked freight and my 4000yen fee)

FD 850cc injectors
mazda australia: A$450
mazda japan: A$217

Want more? I got 'em

Somehow I don't think mazda australia is going to match 1000yen-ish (that's about US$10) for the window rubber...

How do they compare to Mazda USA prices?

Heater core: $360US ($475AUD)
FD 850CC Injectors: $260US ($343AUD) from Mazda
$125US ($165AUD) from Rx7store.net

Of course, I have no shipping included, so that makes the Mazda Japan prices that much better.

kuning - I intend to enquire about it when I do my parts pick-up on saturday, so don't worry too much.

Of course, if someone can give you a definitive answer before then, all the better.

Basically, you need everything that is listed if you want to "do it right", but you can replace the glass without replacing 63-902 on both windshields, if whoever is doing the replacing knows what they are doing.
