Removing Carpet Question-

I am removing the carpet out of one of my FD's and everything is out but the dash. I really dont want to deal with taking out the dash and was wondering if anyone has done it before. Any tips would be great too.

Thanks

You need to remove the dash. It's really not that hard, you can probably have it out in 30-40 minutes if it is your first time. Just be sure you are gentle with all of the wiring harness connectors you have to disconnect.

There is a good write up on removing the dash if you search around, there are only a few bolts that hold it in.

Also, be careful when you remove the gauge hood, I broke mine when I pulled the dash. They break very easy and are not cheap to replace

Pull dash - pull htr/AC unit - you are free to remove carpet.

Otherwise be ready to rip carpet from underneath all this. Others will tell you, it's not fun

I am jumping in on the current carpet group buy, and definitely am not looking forward to the install. Luckily I have 2 friends that have done it numerous times, I shall have to sweeten the pot with offers of cheap beer, hehe

I bought new carpet from the group buy too.

From my experience in the past, its going to suck. lol

I just have to make myself realize that just take my time and do it right. For some reason, whenever i work on the FD, i feel like im rushing like its a contest to fix it lol.

It really isn't that bad. I gutted the entire interior in about an hour, and that was with stopping to make marks, take pictures, and organize everything in plastic bags. I'm a car stereo installer, so your milage may vary some from mine, but it's really not a killer job.

If you click the link in my sig, and look towards the bottom, you'll see how far I gutted my interior to get the carpet out. Don't bother removing the heater core unless you REALLY want to. I just cut the section around it since the dash sits on top of it anyway and no one will ever see it.

Well everything was already out besides the dash but I was just feeling lazy. I did find some extra time to take out my dash today but didnt take the heater core out yet. Gonna go at it tomorow and finish it off if I have time.

Right after you help me finish putting together my electric water pump and custom oil cooler/radiator setup.

Anybody know a good upholstery shop in the Tampa/Orlando area?

I did a search but couldnt find what I was looking for, but I may just suck at searching.
