take the car to a a/c shop and have the system DISCHARGED. Otherwise you let it go into our pristine atmosphere!!HAHAHA!!! Pristine my ***. LOL! Also you'll need a shorter belt. Thats about the worst part of it.

like i said, take it to a a/c shop to do it correctly! OR start pulling the line off of the pump and you should start to hear and see everything escaping. let it flow enough that it doesn't take hours to bleed. Then back away from the car and wait. Honestly though you would be better off(so would the earth) if you go to a shop. it shouldn't cost much if any and you won't **** off any enviromentalists!!!and it will only take a few minutes.

Well, asuming that you are not in the United States (shielding my eyes from your location) you can just unscrew one of the 10mm bolts on the black canister and hold your breath

BigIsland is correct though, take it to a shop. They shouldn't charge you a thing to discharge it, as they can resell it.

it is the refrigerant that they used (not sure what it was at the time) it definetly is not good to breath but you 'll be OK to have it touch you when loosining the bolts. There also may be some oil that comes out No biggy. If it bleeds fast enough it should only take a min or so. Just go for it! Wear saftey glasses and a mask if your really concerned. It's not that big of a deal really. you'll know when it starts coming out! BE CAREFULL that you don't touch the related parts of the system as they get VERY cold when bleeding the system. (The tank mounted to the front bumper area , front drivers side.) Good luck

That tank on the drivers side is the dryer, any way are you saving weight? Remove the condenser in front of the rad from under the front of the car, remove the dryer and all lines, hoses . The ac unit under the dash will not come out unless you remove the complete dash unit, or bust it into smaller parts . Remove the compressor from the mount with 4 bolts from the side ( 12 mm heads ) .

The lines going in to the firewall below the ABS unit will work . The fittings at the condensor are good as no oil will spray on your paint . Remove the lines at the dryer ,that is easy . Press the valves where you fill the system in front of and foward of the ABS unit . but That is the hardest to hold and the slowest .

and beeeeeeeeee careful. r12 is not very friendly to the human body. it displaces oxygen quickly. get a hose that will compress the needle, screw it on, and walk away. that stuff is baaaaaaaad for you.

i thought about doing it, but tennesse's heat is way too much for me. i sweat as soon as i walk outside.

I took the whole 10mm wrench, crank a few times and run aproach. Made things that much more fun.
