Reliability of Peter Ferrell Supercars Computers

Hello Gents,
I just purchase a Peter Farrell Supercars computer, Cold Airbox, intercooler and Air duct.

The computer comes with a **** with 3 settings
low med high.

Just curious to know if anyone has this setup on there car...Also, inquiring to see if they like it. (reliability)

I`m currently running cold plugs B9`s leading, B10`s trailing. Down pipe and Cat back exhaust. I also installed a Walbro pump....Can any tell me what I can expect after do the install on these mods.

Respectfully,
Andre

Check to see if it has the latest software. You can call EFI Systems and ask Doug.
http://www.efisystems.com/support.html

The systems with the latest software work well. I have seen cars run 15 psi on the stock injectors with a ported engine and all the bolt ons run for years without any problems. I don't think I would recommend this though.
It is very important that your car computer is tuned for your set up! If not chances are you could blow your engine. Get it tuned before you boost it!

PFS computer

Thanks for the quick response...I`ll call Doug tomorow. Question, doesn`t EFI make the purple computer for Peter Farrell I didn`t know that the had tunning programs for it also...I have tried calling Peter Farrell to get the chance to speak with Ryan but no answer. I have also left numerious messages and still no response from them.

So i don` want to send my computer there and it just sit on a shelf.

If you know what i mean,
Andre

I had the purple box with intake and innercooler all peter ferrell and it really didnt do much at all concidering what i spent. full exhaust as well . you will really have to be on your game to get it dialed in. I switched to the pettit unlimited ecu blitz intake, stock mount ic and was very happy with it i think the gold box is pretty old also because it was 4 years ago when i changed my equiptment

EFI Sytems makes the box for Peter Farrell. Send an e-mail to Doug and ask him if it is the latest version.

To be fair I ran low 11 second quater miles on a PFS gold box with stock OEM block. The boost control never worked for Poop but the fuel and ignition did its job. Doug was always a good guy to deal with as well. It's not a Motec but for the average person just looking to go fast and tune it a little rich it's fine.

PFS

Gentlemen,
I thank you for the info...the box that i have looks purple to me but on it its marked PINK# 5. Batch of 1999.

I dont know if the gold box that everyone talking about is the newest model or if its the older model than what i have...But i`ll give Doug a call and see what he can do for me.

Thank again,
Andre

When I had that box it worked well for what I wanted. You still need to dyno tune it in order to be safe.

I wish PFS would upgrade mine too. I called like 100 times and nobody answered. I would pay 125 to get mine upgraded but I can't in touch with them. They have really poor support for their stuff.

If it asks for Primary Boost & Secondary, it's the latest code.

If it asks for boost at 2000, 4000, 6000, 7800 rpm, it's an older revision (Menu 6?).

Amel,
I called this number 703 368 7959 Ex 201. If there`s no answer leave a message an they will return your call.

Spoke with Ryan and he seems to be pretty nice. He informed me that not all compters are reprogramable.

I have the Purple box and the number is Pink 5. 1999.
he said the this was the latest model.

Good luck,
Andre

Amel,
I spoke with Ryan this morning and told him to expect your call. He said no problem...The best time to reach them is 10:30am eastern standard time. (works for me)

EFI told me they wouldn't update them anymore. Let us know how PFS works out for you...

Was it $125?

PFs Computer

John
I guess if your computer is the latest and has the latest software I believe it can be upgraded...my computer say it was made in 1999. but you need to speak with Ryan to be absolutely sure

cost for reprograming is 125.00

Good Luck,
Andre

I dunno...I have never had any experience with PFS...But from all the horror stories I read about them and how "great" their customer service is...I think I will not buy anything from them.

This isn't a bad computer, i had pretty good luck with it. The boost control isn't great, so be careful; if you go out on an unusually cold morning.. it will take a few runs for the 'puter to "learn" to turn the boost back down.

I upgraded to the PFC mostly for better support, and the display that shows all of the parameters like water temp, etc....
