Thumbs up Reference: Cheap Throttle Body O-Rings

At the repeated urging of DamonB for me to repost this info over here in the 3rd Gen forum (from my original thread in the for sale forum) here's how to not pay the dealer $20 something for a throttle body o-ring.

McMaster sells a 25 pack of o-rings for $6.83. That's 27¢ each. They're dash 157 Buna-N, or mcmaster part# 9452K177.

They're just a bit meatier than mazda's o-ring but fit fine, as you can see.

Finally, I can not take credit for the info.. I found it here on the forum (from 2 years ago) and simply decided to give away all the extras I didn't need. Jerry Nuss's original thread is here..

Enjoy ..Dave

Man, of course I see this NOW . I bought a new TB O-ring a while back, and it got crimped on installation and tore, so I bought ANOTHER one.

The TB O-rings don't see a lot of heat, so I'm not sure if a Viton O-ring would be worth it, especially if you can get a PACK of O-rings for $4.

Would be interesting if there was a Viton O-ring for the Y-pipe connection - that sucker heat bakes big time. I replaced mine this weekend - 74,000 miles and it was totally vulcanized. It picks up a LOT of heat being right over the downpipe.

BTW, just dug up my receipt from Malloy. Can you say "gyp" from Mazda

Throttle body O-ring - N390-13-W69, $12.63
Turbo Y-pipe O-ring - 9954-20-5005, $6.06

I'm gonna have to get a pack of those McMaster O-rings! Not to mention I wish I would have measured that Y-pipe O-ring to find a McMaster equivalent - $6 for an O-ring is stupid!

Awesome, someone measure the y-pipe one if they have a new one laying around. I am about to put on my 99' twins soon and would love to put a viton o-ring in there.

This part number should be archived, I might just do that right now if I can.......

Blast from the past...A great reference for the record:

McMaster **25 pack** of Throttle Body o-rings for $6.52, plus shipping. That's 26¢ each. They're dash 157 Buna-N, or mcmaster part# 9452K177.
( McMaster-Carr and enter the part number)
