Redline/Coolant Buzzer?
I've heard several people mention there being a warning buzzer as the car approaches redline and also one when the low coolant light illuminates. Well I redline my car often and just recently saw the low coolant light, but never heard any buzzers. I do get a beep sound when I leave the keys in the car and open the door so there is a speaker there (or it's using the radio speakers). Any ideas?

i heard my redline buzzer tonight, but only cause it was pouring outside and me and my buddy in his 240 sx went to an empty parking lot and did cookies... about the beeping when you're door's open, i think it's supposed to do that when you have your lights on, even the accessories, cause mine does that when driving around during the day with the accessories on and gettin out of the car. make sure it's not the coolant light though. if it only beeps when the key isn't in the ignition then i'm pretty darn sure it's cause you have your lights on.

JR.. Are you sure its the coolant light luminating?
and not the yellow or red engine and temp lamp?
Im not trying to sound like I know all.. I just want
to make sure before I try to help ya dawg...

Yeah, I know that the buzzer sounds when the door is open and the keys are in the ignition, or the lights are left on, I know that is normal. I also know my coolant light came on becuase I had a lot of air trapped in my system that I was too lazy to burp out. So when the light came on I was expecting a buzzer, but there wasn't one. Also when I hit redline and beyond there is no buzzer. I would assume that it uses the same buzzer as the key or light warning, and I know that one works so it's not the speaker or the wiring, it's just that the ECU isn't sending a signal to turn it on. I guess that's because I have a PFC. Thanks for the replies guys, has anyone with a PFC ever heard the redline/coolant buzzer? If not then I guess it's normal, if so then I've got something screwed up.

OK, now this buzzer, the redline/coolant buzzer, does it sound different then the key/headlight warning one? If so then I guess it's a different speaker somewhere that maybe I kicked loose.

How funny! I was trying to trace my non-functioning over-rev buzzer tonight, and I *think* the 'speaker' is in CPU #2.
I actually did not know there was a CPU'#2', and was going nuts trying to figure out where it was - not in any diagram I could find in all 600 pages of manual. I finally figured out it was the little black box the wire harness I was tracing per manual. It had 'cpu' printed on it. DOH!
Anyways, according to the diagnostics, page C2-34 ('93 manual), I got to Step 2 - replace CPU #2 if voltage other then battery - and my voltage was less then 120mV.
The manual lists the following as culprit for non-functioning over-rev buzzer:
Wire harness (CPU 2 to gauge cluster)
CPU 2
Tachometer
I have not actually pulled out CPU 2 yet and took it apart, so not sure - but I did take apart my gauge cluster and, unless the speaker(s) are microscopic and hidden in the same area as the 'motor', pretty sure they are not located there.
Calling around to get a price on CPU 2 tomorrow.

dclin - Isn't your car a 5 speed conversion as well? I wonder if this has something to do with it, maybe the tach outputs are different or the re-wiring doesn't get the signal to the CPU.

Hehe, ran outside to take a pic:
Not exactly centered like I remembered (it moved I tell you!) It also has 'flasher' printed on it, so I guess it houses the flash units too.

Thanks for the pic. I can't find the section of the manual you are reffering to. Section C of the main FSM is the engine section and I can't find a C2-34 in the wiring diagram either.
