Recommendations for a new ECU

I have/had a Apexi Power FC.

It decided to Blow a tracer, and since its a multi-level board (and I can't find diagrams for it) I need to get a new ECU. The stock one doesn't like a ported motor :P.

Any recommendations on a different brand? I still have the Apexi unit, but I gotta say I'm not real impressed as its only a year old.

Wolf V500 is nice. And its has a harness adapter if you don't want to rewire.

Apexi powerFC I think is the standard for FDs. Nothing against the other ECUs out there but I think alot of people think that the PFC is easy to use and really like the FC commander that can be used with it.

How did it "blow a tracer"? I've had mine for many trouble free years fwiw.

v500 i'm using it and loving it, but more and most important thing is that when selecting an ecu your tuner must be able to use it or good at tuning it(ecu). the wolf v500 is not that hard to use and understand. need help let me know.

i recently swapped out my wolf 3D for a new Haltech Platinum Sport 1k. it requires that we re-wire the car and all that so keep that in mind if you wind up going with that ECU. my old harness was horrible lol. i went with haltech because our tuner is highly knowledgeable with it and ill get the most out of it that way. i recommend you find out what your tuner is knowledgeable with and go with what he says. dont get something he doesnt know or else you'll both get headaches in the end and you might find yourself in the hole for alot of money.

Im a big fan of Autronics SM4. I'm in the process of adapting a patch harness to a stock wiring harness. So far I've gotten emissions, sequential turbo control and fan operational along with the obvious other bits (IAT, coolant, ignition injectors blah blah). With about 20 minutes of actual tuning time I drove the car about 20 miles today on surface streets and a few miles on the highway out of boost. Its a very powerful albeit complex ECU.

Thanks for the info.

I would prefer as little re-wiring as possible, but truth is I am going to have to do some regardless, the wires have been cut/taped a few too many times for my comfort level.

I don't really have anything against Apexi, I mean for a FD it's pretty much the standard, but the technology behind it is 10 years old now. If I have to do some wire changes I would like to change for the better (newer?) Something with a harness adapter would work fine. I will look into the suggestions and see whats going to work for my level of know how & the sort of money I want to throw at it. It might just be easier/better to clean up the wires there, use some heat shrink and get another Power FC.

To answer how I blew the tracer;
I was in a parking lot on a rainy night, practicing.
I didn't do anything unusual, probably just bad luck with the Friday unit.

Thanks for all the input. It is revc'd & appreciated.
