Does anyone know where I can get a rebuilt rotary motor for a 3rd generation Rx-7?

Malloy Mazda, Ray Crowe. I can't remember the number, but just search for Malloy and you will find it.

beware of ANY mazda dealership...the dealers ive called have wanted as much as 4800.00 dollars.

if you go with a shop you can get a warrantee....

however, ive heard nothing but good about malloy...though many people take the engines from malloy to kd rotary to have them torn down and ported...

Rotary Reliability and Racing in California built my motor and ships their motors anywhere 7148398018. ask for nick....price around. RRR has had almost nothing but bad luck with the mazda remans and no longer uses them in their cars. too many have gone bad immediately after install.

if you get one from a shop you can get a streetport at the same time. Id use one of the shops with reputable builders and stay away from assembly line remans from mazda.

Get a reman($2195.00) from Ray @ Malloy 888-533-3400 and have it shipped to Rob @ www.Pineappleracing.com and get it streetported with oil/coolant mods and upgraded coolant seals($1000.00+/-)... That's what I'm doing.. Now I just need to find a shop to do the R&R.

Umm.... is this guy in Ravenna, Italy?
Kinda asking a lot for him to buy an engine from Malloy on the east coast, ship it to Pineapple on the west coast, then finally to Europe where he is....

Or are you in Ohio?

"Ravenna, Italy?"

Oops, I didn't notice the location.

"do it yourself, wuss"

I know what my limitations are... It wouldn't be pretty if I attemped the R&R myself. I'm sure that I would end up with a bucket full of parts left over

I don't understand this? The only possible benefit would be to limit the time without your car. Do you want a spare engine afterwards, or you trading the core?

You are allready paying for R&R, so why not send your own engine to Pineapple? They also do basic 2yr for $2095. That's $100 less for they same thing? You must be doing it to not have your car down for two months.

My FD is my ONLY car and my Daily driver. So I can't afford the down time. Ray @ Malloy is pretty cool and is willing to wait to get my core back. I just need to find a local shop that can do the R&R with a fast turn around. Some have said 4-5 business days if all things go well and they don't have to wait for parts.

At least I have my CBR to get around on. However, I don't like to ride to work...work clothes.

^ get a tank bag for your clothes and change when you get to work. You should be wearing boots and leathers anyhow! Road rash is extremely painfull and I should know, I still have the scars. Why don't you try one of the shops in the Sacramento area for the R&R?
