Unhappy Rebuild/Port finished...now 0 boost!

I finally got my car out of the shop, and was really happy to have a new ported motor with new housings, rotors 3mm...the works...

Drove it around and noticed my idle was really low... ~500 rpm... turned up the idle screw to around 1k rpm and smooth things out, drive it around and everything is cool.... after another drive i get check engine light a few times at light throttle...try boosting and all of a sudden it bogs down and i no longer get any boost.

strange...i checked all the hoses and... ahhh shiet :p i think i adjusted my TPS(?) too high, not my idle screw. (klutzology realization sets in) Would that cause safe mode? I turned the screw on the front of the throttle body assembly (you facing the car) near where the throttle cable connects to the accelerator cable assembly thingy (for lack of a technical term)

erk... i think solved my own problem *smacks himself*

im gonna check my engine codes and turn the screw back...if it doesn't work, what else should I look for? Im taking it back to the shop on Monday.

OK Im getting Engine Code 11 - Intake Air Thermosensor
open or short circuit

would that cause safe mode and no boost?

reset ECU, still no boost...put in PFC...still no luck... im thinking there might be something wrong with the wiring harness, but still unsure if intake thermosensor would cause 0 boost. I'll have to check the water and air thermosensors in the morning.

i need my boost!!! >:[

oh man....

well guy...I had that engine code go on my car before...no problems with boost though..no problems noticed other than that orange light in my dash.

are you sure all the vacuum hoses are connected? check the hoses that are attatched to the actuator on the Y pipe. Its hard to see em...youll have to pull your airbox and whatnot to get at em most likely.

glad you got your car back....what is your mod list now?

my car is almost done....the m2's are being built and hopefully finished toward the end of the week. I should have it on the road by the fifteenth. I cant wait. We'll have to have another freeway run sometime...Id like to see how they did with your port job and new fun.

Boost after rebuild???

I thought after you had it rebuilt it wasn't a good idea to run boost..at least a lot of it any way. Just wondering.

the engine i put in was already broken in...the customer swapped in something else...maybe i inherited some gremlins..

i couldnt find any kinked hoses.. so im still lost

artguy> go fast mods are Apex GT spec catback, Apex Power Intake, Apex PFC, 3mm seals, street port, ACT clutch. Im waiting on putting on the DP (maybe a really clogged cat is causing 0 boost?) since ported motors need additional fuel, and i may need to retune the PFC

I had a code 11 once and had to change the Intake Air Sensor.

It's the one screwed on the bottom of the "bear claw."

If you get 0 boost from idle and up, only two things can be happening

1. you have a fat leak somewhere
2. your turbo is shot

Even if there is something wrong with your solenoid valve or you have popped vacuum lines, you will get at least 7 psi of boost from the primary turbo because that's how much the wastegate spring is set at. Check if your wastegate rod is hooked up correctly. Describe more about your 0 boost problem such as 0 boost at primary only, 0 boost on secondary only, etc. Good luck.

Replacing precat was my remedy to lack of primary boost.

Try this before pulling off your precat...
If your precat is clogged, your turbos wont spin that fast at idle. Put your finger over the open end of your blow-off valve and check how much air is vented out. If there is only minimal air flowing out, likely you have a clogged precat/cat. Normally if your cats are flowing well, there should be gobs of air flowing out from the turbo. Not a very exact test, but may help...

past 4500 rpm i can slowly generate ~4 psi...so the boost pattern is like 1-0-4 and extremely bogged down. WOT feels the same as light throttle

if you are still having the problem tomorrow (monday)...call nick at rotary reliablity and racing 7148398018. Every time I have anyone else work on my car I get problems. Im sure he would be able to answer any questions you have.

Im sorry to hear that things arent up and running yet...I know you love your car as much as I love mine...its frusterating not to have it full strength.

RotaryKnight suggested that it could be a WG problem...stuck actuator dumping out all the boost. Sounds like the most likely cause, im hoping it's not the turbos. Taking it in tomorrow...i'll let you guys know what the cause was, thanks for the replies.
