VA Rearview mirror help

So my rearview mirror is unusable but the base is still attached to the windshield, where can I get a OEM rearview mirror?

just get a really big razor, like one of those cheap plastic ones. take the blade out and just start working around the base of the bracket on the windshield. It'll take about 15-20 minutes, but it'll come off, and when it does scrape all the black stuff off the back of the metal and use some 5 minute epoxy to re-bond it to the windshield wherever you want to put the mirror. You can work at the black gunk on the black plastic part where the mirror used to mount, but the actual black plastic stuff is bonded to the glass somehow and is damn near impossible to get off. best of luck.

Thanks Gordon. I was actually going to ask Ray on monday. You saved me a call. I may get a new windshield to so maybe not hahaha.

I'm probably going to be replacing mine to or try to fix it at least. What is wrong with your mirror that it is unusable.

Thanks, but I really just need the mirror part and the arm, the mirror I have is not...mirrory...um reflective at all not its just gray and the backing is falling off so but the base is fine. If worst comes to worst I'll try your way.

Ray is great if you *need* a new one - but in my experience, a used mirror is just as reliable.

PM Fritz Flynn - He got me one and is a pleasure to deal with.

Speaking of the rearview, is there a way to tighten it up so it isn't so freely adjustable? If I hit a a couple bump in a row, my mirror will be a little low and I have to readjust it.

I get the same problem doofy. Along with that, the problem with my mirror is that the head of the screw on the bottom is all kinds of messed up and is falling apart. I'm not sure there is much we can do but just change out the mirror but I'll find out when I finally get mine apart.

After taking my old mirror apart the spring inside the mirror arm seems to give tension on bother ends resulting in stiffer adjustablity for the mirror position.
