rear subframe question

I'm missing the rubber bumpers (bushings?) that go between the rear subframe and the chassis. They are no longer available from Mazda. Anyone know a substitute? Or have one that they can measure so I can try to replicate? Picture attached if it helps and the part number is FD0134610A. I ordered replacements from nengun.com, but I assume they won't actually be able to ship. Picture here:

Oof... in all the years I've been on this forum, I have never seen that before...

I'd suggest posting in the Marketplace. Also pm djseven, tomsn16, fritz flynn or others who have parted a car

The bungs are plastic from memory, probably easier to turn some nylon to size than find them, may need to buy a complete subframe to get them otherwise - which may be no bad thing if you've got the early unbraced one as shown in that fiche!

Had at least 4 subframes around here and never seen them fall out either, your car hasn't had those "solid" Japanese subframe locating bushes installed by chance?

I could print them in nylon--I just don't know what to print.

Did you manage to print anything or find a solution? I was considering a universal rubber bushing from like energy suspesions etc.

Anyone have pictures of them? Maybe get someone to machine them out of delrin or aluminum?

Fairly confident it's the same bushing thing like in the front subframe that goes around the spike. If it is then it's just for alignment purposes. It's not an actual "bushing" bushing. It's for centering. After the subframe is bolted then it's job is complete so a 3d printed version would be acceptable even if it fell apart after a few miles.

Part FD0134610A is NLA

I ordered 4 of them about 6-7 years ago while they were still available. Maybe there is old Mazda stock somewhere. But Amayama states part is out of production.

Here is a photo I took when I received them new from Amayama.

I went through my old photos and found these photos I took when installing them. Gives you an idea how they looks like new.

Is it just soft, flexible rubber?

If I remember correctly its a combination of metal and rubber. Its quite firm, so I believe it does have some kind of metal ring or sleeve embedded into the rubber.

You may want to try a pcv valve grommet as a substitute. Maybe one from a B20 Honda engine may fit. If not, beck arnley has a few universal ones that may be the right size. At a minimum, ordering a bunch of random ones from Amazon and just keeping the one that works would work.

Nengun was able to ship me the parts. I also printed a set in nylon and those are the ones that are actually installed (didn't wait long enough for the shipment from Japan).

I can't imagine keeping up with the FD/FD3S chassis in 15 years. Hopefully Mazda gets a legacy project going again in that time frame, unbelievable.

I would say that less than 50% of the original parts are available at this point.

Thankfully there is a heritage project that was started a few years ago, but its still very limited and seems to only be in Japan. Hopefully one day it will get to the Nissan level of getting a full car redone.
