really weird oil pressure (not zero)

so far working on my rx7 is like being a doctor on house, no matter what you do something always goes wrong. The car smokes alot on startup, big clouds of bluish white smoke. We fixed the coolant seals and changed all the hoses. What's weird though is that the oil pressure reads 60psi when we start it but once it gets to operating temp, the car stops smoking and the oil pressure's normal.

Any ideas on what's wrong?

fix the coolant seals? you mean you replaced them, right?

smoke on start up is normal. how much is what you should wonder about.
As for the oil pressure, its dependent on rpm. cold start up presures up since it idles at around 1600 rpm once it drops to around 850 it should be somewhere near the second line.

amount of smoke is huge clouds, almost like uncle bucks car haha.
well the weird thing about the oil pressure is that it never used to read that high.
Oh by fix the coolant seals, i did the copper blockweld operation, there wasn't the same amount of smoke after doing that and also the smoke didn't smell sweet. It doesn't burn my eyes which is why i'm stumped.
Could something be wrong with the sensor that causes it to smoke?

if it smokes a lot, it usually means its time for a rebuild, so just to be on the
"SAFE SIDE", u should start saving.. and if ur not running a cat on ur car, it'll smoke/backfire/shoot flames ect ect.. lol.

60 psi isnt abnormal when the car is stone cold.

Doing the blockweld treatment wasn't a smart idea in my opinion. Good luck getting all that crap out of your coolant system down the road......

well i'm running a cat but an rx7store downpipe and efini turbos. If it's a rebuild, what would be the problem, coolant seals, oil seals, etc.
btw it wasn't smoking this much when i originally got it, only blue smoke because of the old turbos when i'd get into 4000rpm

who rebuilt it? sometimes you re use the oil rings not the rubber seals themselves, if they were reused then thats your problem. My suggestion to you is tear it down and replace all rubber. Possibly seals too if theyre suspect. low mileage seals and springs can be reused sucessfully(done it myself within 4k miles). but to be sure get a "kit" and spend a weekend doing it! Its not that hard and I found it to be very entertaining!!!!

I wouldnt go jumping the gun and pulling the motor out. You already made one poor choice (blockweld), may as well make sure you dont have some other problem like a bad pcv valve or simply a crankcase needing to be ventilated better.
