Who cares. The stock bov works just fine. That is unless your single.

hard to say. I had one for my Integra and I dont remember ever getting a brass block off plate or whatever that is in the picture, mine also came with stickers to place on the BOV itself.

I know the stock works fine but it's more for the bling factor...I'm trying to dress up my engine bay, plus it would be an added bonus if this BOV was real if I ever needed to upgrade to single or BNRs...

Yeah my BOV was labeled by HKS and it doesn't have that brass plate, although I recall HKS making a brass piece that you can insert into the BOV to change the sound from a whistle to a woosh. Besides if you get one of those and have twins, you'll need an adapter unless you have a steel pipe to weld it into using a flange. HKS sells an RX-7 kit which comes with an adapter to mount it with the stock twin setup. I had one but I sold it awhile ago.

Yeah, I know I can buy the adpater for around $25 and weld it on...but does HKS sell the adapter seperatly that would make this an easier install, more like a bolt-on?

I believe HKS only sells the RX7 adapter with the BOV, not seperate. It will plug right in to your stock BOV pipes.

knock off

Yeah...I just found out that it's a knock off. The guy emailed me back saying it's HKS 'style' and that it has the same sound and function and warrantied for one year but I'm worried that it will somehow destroy my turbos if it's a bad unit. Should I be worried about it or are all BOVs a pretty simple tool?

Don't switch your BOV's unless you're going single. Only use for an aftermarket bov like HKS is that it can take more pressure (30psi i believe) unless you plan on going that route, stick with stock BOV or buy the real thing. I bought one with twins and used it for my single setup.. but aside from a different sound, it doesn't make any difference.

People use cheap BOV's for low boost... hondas and stuff like that. 7psi... i wouldn't get a knockoff for FD.. but I don't put junk in my car. You get what you pay for on that stuff.

Hey basaltFD, i think it would be a replica, i had the same trouble because i was looking at one to buy and saw it was sooo cheap! but i think it's a replica, not sure what the difference is....it could get boost leaks...

Yeah...that's what I'm afraid of...something going wrong with the unit and boost leak occurs...has anyone had any similar experiences with knock off BOVs?

that's definitly a knock-off. Its dirt cheap, brand new, and no HKS logo on it. I dunno what the brass plate is for either, i think its just a useless piece that they include to look like more parts. U'll need to buy flange separately and u still can't use that brass coin cuz it'll block boost from exiting the BOV.

Take everyone's advice, get a real one if u wanna upgrade ur BOV. I'm sure HKS have better quality control than the knock-off company. u'll end up buying another one if this one leaks boost.

Besides, it a RX-7 not a civic. U just can't have a Ferrari w/ a set of Tenzo-R rims
