Is this for real???

Just checked my recall status and found that my car has a recall on the hood. The mazda dealer said to bring the car in and the hood would be replaced with a mazda speed carbon fiber hood.

Has anyone else herd of this?? also my car is a 93 and fits with in the vins that needed the ecu's replaced but according to mazda my car doesnt need that to be preformed. My car does have the idle problems under electrical load though..

If you bought a M-speed carbon fiber hood then there was a recall TO THAT HOOD. Your stock aluminum hood isn't covered by this recall.

But, I guess you could give it a try. "Excuse me sir, I got this recall notice..."

Do you have the mazda speed carbon fiber hood?

Because I believe that's what's being recalled (latch)...but if they give you the hood because they say then VIN matches...

now if that was for real, don't you think almost everbody in this forum would have the cf hood, NO!
i asked about the recalls, too.
its my understanding that the cf hood was an option when the 7 was released a long time ago...THAT HOOD was recalled...you must have heard wrong

Well check into it because my VIN is under this same recall spread so if you can get a new hood than I want one to. Scott

I received a similar letter over a year ago. It stated that *if* my car was equipped with a Mazdaspeed Carbon fiber hood, that the latch had a recall on it. Basically Mazda heard reports that the factory latch did not hold up with the carbon fiber hood, and it was possible for the hood to fly up at highway speeds. So I don't think the dealerships are stocked with carbon fiber hoods ready to be distributed due to the recall. However if anyone does by chance get a free one more power to you, and let me know as well.

just checked with the Dealer (I work here), The service Dept will pay to replace the hood. If they type your vin in to the computer and it says that the recall needs to be preformed then they will do it no questions asked.

call this number and see if your car is on the recall list.

Good luck..

Been there done that. As soon as they see it's not a Mazdaspeed hood, they aren't replacing crap.

Nope, read the recall (and my message above) carefully.

*IF* you have one of the original Mazdaspeed hoods, it's a recall for *that* hood. Not the stock hood.
