Re-purpose AC button?

I will be removing my AC as I swap to single turbo, and at the same time I'm cleaning up my interior 93 plastics.

While I was taking apart the center HVAC parts I was wondering if anyone has rewired the AC switch for something else. Something like a hi/low switch for boost on my AEM EMS would be cool, just wondering if this has been done before.

Have you been watching fast and the furious, where Dom hits the nos button?

If you have the stock fans/fan relay, hitting the AC button will engage the higher speed, so probably best to pick another button.

That's the hazard button, already got that and the NOS under the passenger seat.

On our Targa race car, I repurposed the AC button to run a water spray system in front of the intercooler, inside the intercooler duct.

We weren't allowed fancy spray systems or boost-referenced anything, so it was made of a lot of tiny spray fogger nozzles from home depot, and an extra wiper washer motor attached to the wiper washer tank...

This is a slightly ignorant and generic comment...

I bought my FD without A/C and see them for sale/sell all the time without A/C.

Anyway, I had a friend that used his A/C button in a 240sx for switching between maps with his stand alone. I think he had a low boost tune and a high boost tune he could switch between.

Dont see why you couldnt. I still use my AC button to kick up fan speeds but I did re-purpose my fog-light switch for high/low boost toggle with PFC/datalogit.

the AC delete is a huge weight savings (if you delete the full thing) R34 is heavy, the compresser is heavy (and a drag on the drive belts) & the evap core is heavy. doing the delete saved ~45lbs total & less drag on the engine, it may not directley add HP but it will give you faster response times on your engine.

there are lots of FDs that sell with no AC, ive driven mine for 2 years with no AC, on hot days no AC its a little warm but just toss a frozen bottle of water next to you in the seat and crack the windows open.

I never even thought about this... now I want to think of something! maybe a couple relays with a bad ground so when someone in the passenger seat tries to turn on the AC they just get a terrible buzzing noise and think they broke something. Step 3: Profit.

PO did the AC delete on my 91 convertible... Not looking forward to it this summer, but coming from a bike as a weekend toy I can't complain, right?

Are there any other alternatives to help stay cool? Drop the top for me.. maybe a water bottle... any other tricks?

Why not use the fog light switch by the shifter console?

Wire the AC button for the fog lights and the fog light switch for the AC. Problem solved.
