Random whitish blue smoke

Okay - i've been getting random witish blue smoke ever since I managed to get my car up and running. The only time I notice it is when Im stopped. Its pretty hazy (no clouds or anything) but its pretty hard to miss when you see a haze of smoke drifting by your window. It does it randomly. Usually after I boost, but sometimes it just decides to do it out of nowhere. For example, today I drove the car from class to Wendy's. The whole way I never saw smoke, even after I boosted. I parked the car and ate my lunch. When I went to leave I noticed the haze was back on startup, but by the time I got to my apt it was gone again. It does this all the time. It'll smoke one minute, I drive, then when I stop again its gone. Sometimes it keeps smoking for a while. Totaly sporatic.

Now, on a side note my car is untuned and running on 850 primaries. This has resulted in a very strange idle and some low rpm hesitation points.

oil seals in turbos. Under vacuum, idling, if they are tired, they allow oil to get sucked in

Mine does the same thing. I think I'll ignore it until it gets so bad that plants and small animals drop dead behind my path.

I was about to ask same question... I have the same issue.

I thought maybe it had something to do with or maybe its just more noticable now that I took off all emmision stuff off.

(no cats, no egr, no air pump) sometimes the cloud can be pretty significant and sometimes its not even there. I think more noticable on cold starts.

It's fairly normal for the car to smoke right at start-up - especially if you've taken out all of your cats and emission stuff...

I'm no guru but I believe that the OMP (Oil Metering Pump) injects some crankcase oil into each of the rotors for lubrication right before you get ignition at start-up. This is to help preserve you seals and rotor housings. This white smoke usually goes away pretty quickly (minute or so), at least it does in my car...

Now - if it is doing it (smoking) all the time.... that's a different story.

Depending on the color and smell of the smoke and when it comes out - usually can help to determine the cause - turbo oil seal, engine oil seal or possibly o-ring failure allowing your coolant to leak into the combustion chamber after shut down.

Are you running mix in your gas?

so if it is lasting a little bit longer than a minute (say till warm) and it is a light cloud but has volume...coudl your OMP be in need of repairs?

I doubt it. If you OMP needed to be replaced or repaired, you probably wouldn't get any smoke at start-up.

so what would cause it to "overpressurize"? (have a 95 so no pcv valve)

Engine has about 12k miles on it. Stock reman done by Maz-Max (high quality shop). Turbos have about 10k on them. The primary looks to be in perfect condition, but the secondary I have no clue. The smoking is sporatic. It'll usually smoke very very little at start up. Not enough to really notice unless you look for it. The smoking I'm talking about is totaly sporatic. Sometimes it does smoke on startup. Sometimes it just starts out of nowhere. Its unpredictable. Im not losing any coolant and oil consumption looks to be about normal. 1/2 a quart in 1k miles.

Yep, this is the problem. Mine does the same thing, but more often. I bought a brand new set of RZ twins back in April, so once I get a new engine they are going in.

I would second that, and add that under high RPMs and boost, the combination of increased crankcase pressure and higher oil pressure in the CHRA can cause the oil to force its way past the oil seals and into the compressor housing or turbine housing. It may take a while for it to burn off/be ingested.
