VA Radiator Leaking

I had a new radiator installed about 10 months ago.

This past Saturday I found out I have a leak in the radiator.

Have to have a new radiator installed.

Can radiators go bad that quickly?

Here is the one I bought today.

http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/sk...%26+Drivetrain

Wanted to go with an aluminum one but they are expensive.

Recommendations / Suggestions?

Did you pressure test it to find the leak or just eyeball it?

I had my Koyo pressure tested by a local radiator shop for $10 and also 'rented' a coolant system pressure tester to test the entire system from Autozone.

To answer your question, It depends why it failed. All aluminum radiators tend to last a long time.

Personally I think you should have just spent the extra cash and picked up a Koyo. They are really not that much more than what you paid for that.

BUT I am also pretty sure I still have my old stocker in the attic and I would have just let you have it if you would have covered the shipping out to yourself...

You can pick up a used koyo/fluidyne for around $250 if you look. What brand was the old radiator?

It was a direct fit OE replacement radiator.

But not from Mazda? From an aftermarket supplier? Which one?

Want to Thank You all who replied to my post here.

The radiator I had ordered was a no name brand.

I cancelled that order and purchased a Koyo Aluminum one.

Cost was $375.00

Good choice (I've got a Koyo n-flow), but be prepared for some massaging during the install. It isn't a perfect fit with some stock parts.

I'm not installing it myself. A Very reputable shop will be doing the install.
