Quick Question Bare with me I'm a NOOB!

Alright guys, I'm considering purchasing a RX-7 and basically found a very clean one that I want to look at. Only bad thing is that its an automatic. My question is, how hard is it really to convert to a stickshift? Im trying to find parts for the conversion to get a rough estimate at how much its going to cost me but all i found soo far is the tranny itself where can i find the rest?

If you do the swap work yourself, then yeah that's not a bad deal for a car with 15k.

I've always thought that Autos were worth considerably less than manuals. I've never seen one sell for over $11k, but I've also never seen one with 15k miles....

Auto cars were about a grand more expensive to buy NEW, but the desireablility factor negated that...except for a Blue Book value. It is still better to have an auto as far as that goes.
But man! 15K miles? Sweet!
Why not just drive it for a while and see if you REALLY totally loathe it or if you are just buying into the 'herd mentality' that autos are evil.

And it is "bear" with me.

Picked up an auto 93 TT last year for 7k (80k miles). Body is in great shape and the interior was bout average for a 13yr car (seats need to be redone for sure :p). Engine leaks a bit of oil, but seems to be in relative good shape. Normally i'm a stick man, but i kinda like the automatic. Not sure what direction i'm gonna go with the car yet as far as performance goes, but i'm probably gonna stick with the auto and roll with it.

Here's a post i found a while back that may be off interest.......

There's actually some good info mid-way down the post.

15,000 original miles on a 15 year old car is rather hard to believe. You should give the car a very good look-over. Be patient, depending on the mods you want to put on it, it may be better to find a car that is already a little closer to meeting your desires.

Here's my 2 cents:

If you want an automatic, buy it. However, if you really want a manual, just find a manual. This is one car where mileage doesn't really mean much as most stuff on the higher mileage cars have probably already been broken/damaged and replaced by now.

These are autotrader images? Have you seen it personally? If not beware of scams & don't send any cash to seller. Pay for it upfront and personal after you've inspected the car yourself!

one thing to consider on a car with low mileage is that it's been sitting around for a
long time. I would ask if he drove it at least once a week, or at least start it up every
now and then. Some of the seals may be dried out if it has been sitting for a while.

That's a nice car (providing its not a scam). However, I would suggest leaving a car like that as it is. A low mileage car in stock condition is worth a lot more than one which has been "tampered" with..

I would still suggest you find a manual if that's what you want. The forum is filled with nice cars which you can be more than pleased with... Here's a good example:
