Even though I don't agree with whom he wants elected, I respect his right to have it as his sig. Start a thread in the Difference of Opinion section if you feel like venting (and I'll join ya').

Yellow tops are deep cycle - good for a car with a lot of high powered stuff that drains/strains a battery. A yellow top is ideal for a car that is rarely driven, stored and has a lot of electrical add-ons (high powered amps, etc...). The deep cycle battery can be discharged completely and charged back up quickly with no ill effects. Great for show cars.

The red top is best for a car that is driven pretty regularly. It will take to discharges/charges more willingly than a regular battery and features a LOAD of starting power (much more than the yellow top). The red top is well suited to large stereos and such as well - but the key factor is how much the car is driven.

Driven often = red top
Driven rarely = yellow top.

On the topic of batteries...I'm using a mini Miata performance sealed gel cell relocated to one of the bins. I'm also underdriving the main pulley and the alternater, which equals less voltage at idle and speed.

How to get around a crazy acting car when you have electrical loads on (i.e. radiator fans, lights, blower, defrost, etc)...Fuel Correction Maps for Voltage. Haltech has this capability and I thought it was definitely something neat that I'd share for the people running small batteries and underdriving everything.

Curious, does the PFC have fuel correction maps?

Do you mean voltage correction maps? If so, yes it does.

I am runnung the miata battery also in the rear bin. Unfortunately I still only have the Pettit unlimited ecu. I know my audio system is drawing alot from my battery. Probably is why my car breaks up bit @WOT. I am still running 10 lbs. of boost to be safe until I get a better ecu. Can't wait to go standalone.Garret
