Question Questions about dyno tuning results?

I got my PFC tuned on a dyno today. It was probably a good thing because the guy said that he tuned out some detonation. I ended up with only 246.5 RWHP at 10PSI. I told him that with my upgrades I expected between 280 and 300 RWHP. He said, "Oh, this isn't a Dyno Jet. This is a Mustang dynameter." The Mustang dynameter apparently tends to give a lower result because rather than just moving the rollers, it adds resistance according to the EPA rated weight. I saw that the weight was set at 3150 pounds. I guess that takes passengers into account. Does anyone have any experience with both kinds of dynos? How much RWHP I might expect on a Dyno Jet?

Another thing that was weird was that when he put it on the higher of the two boost settings that come one the PFC (about 12psi) I only gained about 1 horsepower. I would have thought that would add 20 horsepower or so. Boost was reading perfectly on both turbos with both settings but it was running richer on the higher boost setting. Does anyone know why I would get such a small horsepower gain?

Hi, the same thing happened to me. I have basically the same upgrades as you but use the M2 stage 3 ECU. I got 255rwhp at 13 psi boost

With the PFC you can purchase the Commander (allows you to interface with the ECU, make timing & fuel changes, etc.). The Commander has two boost settings, you can switch between them on the fly.

This post talks a little bit about the differences between the Dynojet & brake dynos.
