Just wondering what driving a RHD FD in a LHD country is like, are there any issues which may be a serious safety issue, is it more difficult etc... Thanks for your opinion, much appreciated!

 

lots of my friends had LHD cars in Japan, so it would be similar.

toll gates, drive throughs etc you wont be able to go through unless you have a passanger, in japan i remmeber the ticket machines at the toll gates had machines on both sides.

you wont be able to parallel park, well you'll be able to get in but then getting out will be a nightmare.

 

I never thought of that! I can see myself trying to hookshot some coins at the tollboth and failing terribly

 

yea i find it better then LHD, Cause in a busy street all the parked cars on the right side. Driving a LHD its always a little scary cause you think you may be too close, but with RHD you know exacly where you are.

Also when merging into traffic, you have the whole rear window to shoulder check for cars, not just your mirror. I find it better persoanlly, and slightly safer.

But Left hand turns through intersections is where you have to watch your self. Wait for the red if you have to, dont go if you "Think" your good.

I have a LHD FD, and i tried to get into a RHD FD the other day, and was physically unalbe to get in the driver's positoin. Because of the rear seats, i think the rails on teh front seats about 3-4 inches shorter. I'm about 6'3" and i coudln't get my knees around the wheel with the driver's seat all the way back.

 

weird im 6'3" also and i have no problem doing so. I love my car... Sorry i just got it like 1 month ago, and im still just so excited to drive my dream car eveyday!

 

worst problem you will have will be making left turns since you would not be able to see oncomming traffic unless there are no cars making a left in the oppostie direction.

 

ive had a rhd fd in calgary for over 4 months now and the only real issues i have are drive throughs, and merging into traffic if its super busy and uve got a passenger. between the huge b/c pillar on the car with the handle built into it and a passengers head uve got a fairly large blind spot so it takes good awareness and some planning ahead to get in or over. other then that u get some funny looks sometimes but its all good

 

im also in calgary, one of the main issues is passing a bigger car on a 2 lane highway. on the right side u really cant see the road to the left past the car in front of you. which makes passing a bit dangerous

 

I have 2ea RHD 7's and it's no big deal.. But I've had them in the USA since 1988... I drive them better than my LHD FD.. lol
