Question on long drive.

im getting a third gen in late march and it has a newly rebuilt motor and i am playing to drive it to the beach from knoxville, tn to myrtal beach, sc and i was wondering if everything would be fine or should i stop every hour an a half and let it cool off or should it be fine to go the whole way it is about 400 miles. i appreciate any advice.

You should be fine. I had a motor that was in bad shape, overheating problems sometimes, and some other issues and was able to make the trip between my college and my house on the weekend before which is 3 hours of driving. Well on the way back one time it overheated and I had to let it sit but like I said I had overheating problems.

Don't stop every hour and put the car through needless heat cycles. Better to keep driving and keep the cooling system operating.
Is it a brand new rebuild? Although probably not the same as a brand new factory engine, I'd still follow a break-in period regimen if the car has zero or low miles on the rebuild. Vary the revs. Don't drive hours on end at the same rpm. Shift gears and drive at different speeds. I also wouldn't wouldn't rev it to high rpm's for the first 500 miles or so. Keep it at about 4,000 rpm or below for the first 500 to 600 miles.
Needless to say, take a quart of oil with you and keep an eye on the cooling system.

Follow the recommended break in procedure by the builder.

change the oil as necessary.

as for highway driving? I took the FD on a 3000 mile highway trip into the mountains and it LOVED it. No problems whatsoever

The FD is meant to be driven, and driven hard

I drove from Saint Louis, MO to Northern VA, about 1000 mile trip. The owner said it was a fresh rebuild, I even stopped half way to have the oil changed. No problems at all.
