Question/Feedback on 99 spec bumper

Looking into getting an OEM 99 spec or a 99 plateless replica from Pettit in either fiberglass or urethane. I spoke to Cam at Pettit and he indicated that he would recommend the fiberglass over the urethane. Reasoning was that they have seen their urethane replica warp overtime.

So I'm now trying to decide between the OEM 99 urethane and the Pettit plateless fiberglass replica. Can someone provide feedback on whether they have seen the OEM urethane bumper warp or not?

I have a 99 plateless urethane replica and it has not warped. It has been on my car since spring 2007.

Could be because 90% of the time my car is garaged, or is a light color (yellow and thus doesn't heat up like black), or just better quality. Who knows

Saw that for sale ad -- there's been some questions on the fitment on the passenger side which the seller pointed out. And if I recall it was purchased from rx7store -- anybody else have the rx7store replica that can comment on the fitment and any other issues they may have had with theirs?

No mine was from the first batch of rotary extreme bumpers. There is a long winded story about the plateless replicas. The mold was first made for rotary extreme and the unethical (the mold maker not RE) shop started selling them to other shops. The mold is the same as there is a serial number stamped on the inside part of the bumper that is how the news got out. But wether the same material composition is used who knows, all I know is that my bumper does not sag.

I was reserching this topic yesturday and found this post.

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...mper+plateless

It talks about the different companies and how to get proper fitment. Its not extremely detailed but then again its just a bumper install.

I have the pettit urethane and have no warping thus far. Under no circumstances should you get the fiberglass, period. Within a year you will look like every riced out civic with their aftermarket front bumper splintered and cracked.

The stock bumper is urethane I believe and there is some warping over time. I would take slight warping over the years versus a bumper that is literally garbage the first time you scrape with any force.
