Question Question on Driver Space

Any of you tall or big people fitting well with the 3rd Gen Rx-7? I'm planning to buy one, but I don't know if I would fit well in one. I'm pretty big and about 5'10. How is the leg room for you tall people? Is it uncomfortable to have your knees bent to step on the pedals or is it pretty roomy?

I'm 6'1 and I fit pretty well. It would be uncomfortable for really long drives. I don't have the seat all the way back either.

Headroom isn't the greatest. I'm 6'0", but it's all from the waist up. I have to recline the seat more than normal to get any headroom, but it's alright, as long as I don't have to wear a helmet (for autocross).

Cheers,
Rusty

Yeah dude, I'm about 5'11" - 6' and I fit fine in mine! Great amount of room on the drivers side, not too sure about the passanger side, but I've never been in passenger seat =p

Yea the getting in and out part is the problem. But that doesnt matter. Oh yeah and I'm 165. I love the fitment! I thought it was going to suck when I was researching and stuff, but when I finally sat in one I was like "Wow, I need to scoot the seat FORWARD!".

How do u guys manage with that? Im 6'2", and about 170. I have serious issues with my steering wheel. Maybe I need to try adjusting the seat. I dont have a tilt steering wheel, which bugs the daylights out of me. I mean, I can drive it comfortably, but I can't even come close to doing any sort of heel toe downshifts, because my thighs are somewhat "spread eagled" due to the massive stock steering wheel. I suppose racing seats and a smaller wheel would cure this prob, but I can manage with it for now.

Stevey629,

It depends on where all your height is located. Some people have longer legs, others the height is above the waist. For the people with long legs, the steering wheel becomes a problem. Usually switching to a smaller aftermarket steering wheel hits the spot.

I'm 6', and my legs just barely clear the wheel without problems. If I was a few inches taller, I would have the same issue since I have the "long legs" as well.

I'm 6'2" and 230lbs and I fit into my 93 touring without a problem. If you have any concerns just by a base or r2/r2 model because they don't have sunroofs. If you get one of those then you will have more leg room.

also, where can i read about the diferent models, base, touring, r1? I'm sure it's been talked about but I can't find it, since you have to put 3 letter words into search

It's a sports car, not a luxury car...

The leg room will be the same, it's the head room that is different since the sunroof actually takes up more space (added roof support for around the sunroof I believe).

I know it's not a luxury car, but in a race car, I want to adjust the wheel to ME (ME ME ME ME ME) but hey, whatever, I'm sure I can live w/ that, hehe, I'll love every other part of the car.

I meant more head room if you buy a base, r1/r2 model, not leg room. My mistake.

Deja-Vu

Didn't I just see a post like this?? Anyhow, I am 6 foot, 225 lbs. My height is mostly upper body so I have to recline the seat a little more then most so my head doesn't hit the roof but it is comftorable and I fit well. I don't see how anyone much bigger then me could fit very well but you really have to go sit in one and drive it a little to get a feel for how you fit in it.

Worst part if you don't fit is the long drives and the hard turns. Some people can't get their legs under the steering wheel so they get fatigued pretty quickly. I thank God that my cruise control still works or I would be in the same boat!!

Anyway, go put your butt in one and see. If you can stand a corvett, you won't have any problems with the FD.

Is there any way to extend the steering wheel forward 4-5 inches?

Re: Question on Driver Space

I think you have some problems with your self-image.
5-10 is not tall, its medium, maybe a tad above normal.
i'm 5-11 and the FD fits so good it aint even funny.

the words "like a glove" are definetely the best way to discribe it.

but of course there are people out there who need sofa style carseats(like my mom, haha). but those people shouldnt drive sportscars anyways.
