Question about my New ECU upgrade boost paterns
Got my New ECU upgrade..
Everything running fine after I
reset the ECU.. Just got a couple of question..
Is there anyway of knowing if the ECU is running
properly other than if the car is running ok?
With my Stock ECU @ WOT I would boost to 10-8-10, sometimes 12-10-12, and that was only WOT and holding...
NOW with the new upgraded ECU..
WOT I boost to like 14-12-13ish, relatively easy
compared to before...
From what people way, the upgraded ECU doesn't increase boost levels.. or does it??
I can get 14psi easy compared to before, with same mods: CB DP SMIC INtake. From waht I understand. This ecu is good for 1.06 bar 14.7 primary and 1. bar secondary. So is my car boosting higher just because of the extra fuel?? or is the programming in the ECU???
I been keeping my eye on the boost gauge..
Looking for spikking and creaping..
So far I haven' t noticed any..
In yoru Opinion is 14-15psi, To high of a boost???
Is that danger zone for detonation?
Should I use a boost controller to lower my boost
say to 13psi?
Theoretically(pardon my spelling)
Since the ECU is programmed for 14.7 psi or 1.06 bar what ever that is.. My engine should be FINE right??
I would get enough fuel so my engine dont blow apex seals.
Or like before should I play safe and get boost controller
to keep it to like 12 - 13 psi

First of all, it would be good if you told us WHAT ECU you installed.....
I am assuming it is the Pettit Unlimited. I'm not that familiar with that one.
Boosting 14 psi on stock fuel system = not good. Your injector duty cycle will be very close to 100% with the stock injectors. You really should upgrade your fuel pump and get larger secondaries (1200 cc or so) for more reliability at those boost levels. There are fuel calculators at rx7.com, maxcooper.com, and Wade's site (don't have url at the moment).

14lbs is too much boost for the stock twins...no matter who tells you otherwise.
you will cook and fry those turbos quickly.
be happy at 12-13 and know that you are still stressing the little wheels even at those levels.
just because you have a part that controls boost does not mean that you car has the mods to handle it.
get your fuel system before running anything past 13-14 lbs.

ps...you engine should be fine if you dont run lean or run too hot...both which can happen easier at high boost....temps go up...one wrong fuel cut....bye bye.
trust me...Im on my third motor in three years.

See thats my whole point..
With the UPgraded ECU I get to 14psi no problem.
before with my stock ecu, i would barely get 12psi..
Since my ecu is letting my boost go up to 14psi, isn't it
remaping fuel and timing, so I do'nt blow up apex.
SO i guess you are saying to get a boost controller and have it only boost to 12psi.
3 motors in 3 years??? damn, What you got a
MONEY Tree growing in your yard??
