question about harness
The mechanic that tunes my car said that ill need a wire harness in the near future as its not that good. When we dynoed the car it made the power in my sig but @ 6000rpms because of the ignition break up, so i got the msd with the coils, wires and the next problem was that @558hp @ 25lbs the cars Injectors were @ 91% (550cc/1600cc)
I just bought the injectors from ghostrx7 (thanks) so hopefully there isnt anything i need.
So the question i was asking is Do the wire harness tend to go bad frequently on the FD
And he also said ill need the cosmo Throttlebody & mainfold cause it flows more than the 13b-rew. IS that worth buying.
Just those 2 questions, & happy turkey day every1

Not to HI-Jack your thread but had a question about harness too.
Would it be okay to just cut the wires that I am not using, I want to simplify it since I did the single conversion and want to get rid of the big lump that I have of wires. I want to cut them for now and if ever I replace the engine then I will take the whole wire from the harness.
The harnesses on the FD does go bad due the the heat in the engine bay, so if you have the original harness still then it is probably needing replacement soon.

/\ yeah but because of the single (more space) plus i have a turbo blanket with alot of wrap around wires, pipes it keeps the engine bay cool. the hottest thing in the car is the koyo radiator
it wouldnt be a problem to cut the wires as long as you have the connectors to connect each back to eachother!

Wire harnesses get very crispy. Grab any wire in there, probably easiest would be one going to the thermostat housing. If you can bend the wire around easily then things are ok, but if the insulator around it is crispy and snaps you are due for a new harness soon. I wouldnt mess around at all with a bad harness, I rebuilt my engine a couple years ago and lost it in 500 miles because the secondaries werent firing due to a crispy harness, I learned that lesson the hard way.

with that kind of horsepower, i would put a brand new harness, they do become very brittle. Everytime i install a new engine in someone's rx-7, i always change the wiring harness with a couple other things.
The 13B RE does flow more, the ports are bigger, do a search on this, i know someone wrote a post as too what was needed to install this.
You got to be carefull if you want to cut the unused wires of the wiring harness. For example, when i cut the wires for the rats nest, my idle valve stopped working. It seems that the idle valve is taking it's 12V from the same source as all the solenoids.
