Question about Air filter box??

I have a 1993 R1, and I was wondering if you disconnect all the hoses that connects to the Stock Air box to put 2 aftermarket filters there, would anything happen? what should I do? what would you recommend?

You are talking about a homemade intake.

you can do that but 2 things are bad. 1 the goose noise. you can extend the ACV hose and hide it somewhere in the front. that will suppress the noise. the 2nd issue is the air pump. many people think the air pump needs cool fresh air or it will shorten its life substantially. if your using the stock intercooler you should use a CAI, but thats just my opinion. why dont u just cut the stock box bottom and do the simple CAI mod and throw in a KN filter? not flashy but its almost free, and does the same job.

Also, you would fail the visual inspection for SMOG. If you want to keep it looking stock, get something like the Racing Beat Intake Duct + a K&N panel.

The Cold Air Intake mod I believe is just Ram Air I believe if you just take the bottom of the air box off.

It's really not entirely nescesary to filter either the ACV, CRV, or the BOV. While I guess they can occasionally suck in air, it barely counts.

I believe most of the aftermarket cold air intakes do not filter them, even when you plug then up to said box; at least mine is this way.

Do a search for I think "Damian" and "Heat shield". He had a good write up about making a custom intake w/ a heat shield and ram-air.

I made it myself. Used 2 K/N cone filters and 1 breather filter for the air pump. I just left the acv hose extended down towards the bottom of the engine bay and I can barely hear the moo'ing noise.

Here's a link to a nice mod for the stock air box:

Here is a picture of my custom air filter setup, with heat shield. I used two big filters, and then 4 small filters for all of the hoses (just to be safe).
