Question ! ! !

im thinking of buying an RX-7, but i want to hear from ALL YOUR POINT OF VIEWS.

i am 16 years old, barely learning to use clucth, and i want an RX-7 like most of you guys do with Mods and all sort.. but is this kind of car good for me to start out with.?

were you ever 16 or 18 years old getting an RX-7 and having any trouble or have a blast with the car... i just want to know from what some of you may have to say if i should get an RX-7.. cuz im down the earth, this car is now my dream car..

I was in your same position 3 years ago. Getting my rx-7 was one of the best things I have ever done, it's a great car and a lot of fun. If you're anything like me, the car becomes an addiction and once you starting modifying it you aren't going to want to stop, so look forward to dumping a lot of money into it, but in the end it's money well spent. As for reliability, it's not as bad as most people say, as long as you take care of the engine and don't beat the crap out of it all the time it will last. I wouldn't recommend trying to learn how to drive a 5 speed on your rx-7, if possible try to learn on something else first just so you don't have to worry about messing up the clutch in the rx7. Just make sure whenever you're looking at one it's been taken care of and you can search on here to see the things you should look for whenver buying an rx-7 if you don't already know.

No, bad idea, ready the stickies and buy a civic or other cheap car. Your first car should not be something this complicated. Plus you in no way will have the cash to keep it running. Insurance will be a bitch and so will everything else.

I am guessing this will be closed in a few.

BTW I am not trying to be an *******. But your 16, probably going to get in an accident most people do. And a 7 is a bad car to learn to drive on when you first get your license. Im all for giving youngins 100hp cars for their first few cars.

Edit:

^^^^^ was the 7 your first car? cause that affects a large part of the opinion. As does money. If parents can cover parts and gas its one thing. But its another if you have to buy it all yourself.

My rx-7 was not my first car. I had a 5 speed camaro before that and I learned to drive a stick on that, I only had it for about 5 months before I got my rx-7. I agree with what he said about gas especially, the car will eat a lot of gas and is quite expensive. My parents paid for insurance, but I paid for my gas and all modifications to the car. Insurance isn't cheap, but it's not horrible, I now have an 2000 eclipse rs with a 4 cylinder engine and backseat as a car for gas mileage and it costs more on insurance than the rx7 because more teenagers have it and wreck it than they do rx-7s. My insurance was about $700 every 6 months on my parents insurance when I first got the car. Really it's up to you with how much you trust your driving and if you have the money to put into the car. It wouldn't be a bad idea to get used to learning to drive another 5 speed car comfortably before you get the rx-7 so like he said you won't wreck it as a lot of teenagers do.

Edit: I do agree with them a civic is a good beginner car, especially for gas mileage, and are relatively cheap to buy and so are the parts. They can also be tuned and be very quick and are easier to work on. But then again, it's just a civic like everyone else has.

No, do NOT get an FD. Your driving skills and bank account are not ready for it.

Look into a nice non turbo FC, either or coupe or convertible. Try that out for a few years, you'll have a blast

well my dad was supposed to by me a 31,000 350z, and i saw this car and read up all about it and i just fell in love..

so i made a deal with him, and if i find a low priced rx-7 with low mileage and taken care of, and maybe with some mods in it then, shiittt that would be a deal. so pretty much my dad
