Unhappy Pushed Her Beyond the Limits

Well I finally pushed the 7 beyond her limits...Sunday afternoon I decided to try and hit a ridiculous speed on a road that was not meant for it...I came up on a curve in the road and lost the back end... I stayed off the brakes and tried to correct, but the turn was to tight to stay on the road...I shot off the left side of the road onto a right slanting hill and managed to blow out a brick wall built to house mailboxes...I managed to pratically destroy the left side of the car, the main damage being at the front of the drivers door where it was pushed in somewhat (enough to slightly bend the A-pillar and push the entire door and paneling in... the front left tire blew off the shock assembly is cracked and I also managed to crack the rotor straight through...the rear left tire as well is bent out of shape (probably a broken axle)... because of the pushed in front left fender I wasn't able to fully open the hood, but was able to peak underneath and it seems as though the strut bar I put on may have possibly saved me and the engine bay... the bar did not appear to be bent... Right now she's sitting on a flat bad at the body shop while I wait to hear from insurance...Luckily my friend in the passenger seat was unscaved and as for me I only suffered couple cuts around my left eye that required some stitches as well I managed to slice completely through my tear duct requiring some surgery the night of the accident...all will heal in due time... I learned a grave lesson the extremely hard way... and am glad I'm able to be here and actually type this...I know I could handle the 7, but there are even certain stupid decisions that no one can recover from...hopefully my story will make a some think twice and not be as stupid as I was...

I've almost done the same thing 2 times now

I think I've passed a point now where nothing will happen because I'm comfortable with the car and learned what I can and can't do.

Sorry about your accident it doesn't sound like you were being too crazy but sometimes it's just that simple. I hope you recover soon and are able to get another rx-7 since this one is obviously totaled.

No offense to you, I'm glad you're alright, I'm glad you're friend is alright, but this is another loss of a perfectly good RX7 due to someone driving way too fast on a public road.

The TRACK is the best place for this....I've spun out 5 times at the track at a high rate of speed, and never had anymore problems than a dirty car.

Good luck to you in your rehabilitation...

I guess at the time I hit the wall I was doin 80... considering my speed at impact I'm lucky to have come away with the injuries I have...

and on another note the body shop where my 7 is says it can be repaired...

My mom took pictures... I'll try and get them back sometime soon and post em up here... The right sounds looks perfect...the rear looks perfect... the front is slightly out of shape, but the left side looks like awful

Glad you're ok. Lesson learned is good, but you'll get a standing ovation for your story if you can save the car and rebuild it.

glas to hear you are basically ok... another reminder to all other out there, keep the speed on the track, as one mentioned above, I have spun, gone off a few times myself at high speed, but all on the track, so drove away with nothing more than dirt/grass on my car

Track is the ideal place to take your Rex for a spin.

You're lucky man. Good for you. It could have been a lot worse.
It looks like the car taught you a lesson.......respect. Mine has taught me the same lesson a few times. I've never crashed mine, but i've had her in the air, sideways, backwards, and almost any other way you can think of. I've just been lucky. She let's you know when you do something wrong.
Happy healing for you, and your 7.

Totally agree. These cars just are designed to cope with mid-corner bumps let alone spearing off into houses. My brother spun my FD at over 100mph. But since we were at the track, it was just a matter of pulling out the grass from the radiator on the pits, and he was back out again. Try that on the street and you end up posting a thread like this (if you're lucky).

I've seen enough wrecked FD's this year to last me a lifetime of nightmares. This **** has to stop.

Sorry to hear about the car, but I can give no simpathy because the street is just NOT the place to be going that fast. Have fun trying to get that thing repaired.
