Pulling motor myself.need advice.......
Hey all......Have not posted in a while...Well I decided to get enough ***** up to pull my motor which will be sent cross country to Pineapple for a rebuild. I thought since it was blown how much could i really **** up by pulling it myself. I have the 93 shop manual and am paying close attentiom to the various SST's needed to not damage anything.
I am about to remove the oil pulley and pump. This is my first hurdle. Anyone have any advice on this one of any other good advice for me? Thanks for any replies....

Well, considering that me and Dragon just pulled an engine out of an FD, I guess I can add my $.02
unbolt the oil cooler lines, the a/c, the radiator hoses, the intercooler piping, the power steering lines(if you have power steering)
unbolt the upper intake manifold. Disconnect the wiring harness from every connector on the engine(the hard ones will be the crank angle sensor/tdc sensor?)put that to the side.
go underneath and unbolt the engine mounts from the frame(2 14mm bolts)
disconnect the engine from the transmission(or if you want, pull the whole thing together).
Grab your cherry picker and bolt up to the engine and...
BAM...engine out...
not exactly that easy, but it can be taken out in less than an hour...
From there, you can disconnect everything else from the engine with easy(it's not easy taking off the turbine's when you don't have any room)

Label everything, get little zip lock bags for the different bolts and label those as well.
Don't disassemble parts of the engine on the car, it is much easier to do with it out of the car.

Amen on the labeling the baggies! Which I didn't, wish I had..but all is well now. If you have a shop manual, it should be a breeze. Take your time and remember, taking it apart is much easier than putting it together. Good luck!

I highly reccomend disconnecting the wiring harness at the ECU and feeding it through the firewall rather than disconnecting everything from the engine. Make sure you have the engine supported by the cherry picker BEFORE you unbolt the motor mounts the tranny or the PPF.

Be careful with the tranny. Make sure you check the jack to see if it is supporting the tranny just before pulling the engine apart. It makes it much easier to lift the engine up and unbolt the supports from the engine, then pull it forward to separate it. I had an engine leveler harness (about $20) that has a crank and moves the pivot point back and forth. This allows you to tilt different directions. It is well worth it to give you some extra clearance.

HEY ALL, i just did my motor job and it was not bad.
i did it a little different!
dissconnect oil lines ,drain coolant, drain oil, dissconect rad hose's, take off down pipe back (not down pipe), as for power sterring and a/c, i just unbolted and left in car!
took motor out w/out trans and for the wiring harness i dissconected from ECU! and pulled it thru that was the hardest part just tight
