I removed the bolts to the ABS pump's mounts and moved it a couple inches to gain some room. This means you are slightly bending the brake lines, but as long as you're careful everything will be fine.

cool. thats what i figured. . . just move it a little bit, but i wasnt sure if it was all hardcore in the way or something. haha. i didnt want to have to bleed the whole damn brake system for a motor swap. SCREW THAT. . . especially at the abs. puke. . . even though ill probably do it afterwards anyways. haha.

There was a thread on this a few days ago, and someone who said he's done multiple engine installs, said that you don't have to unbolt the ABS pump. He gave a procedure. It was on here less than a week ago, so you should be able to find it. I've never done this myself, so I don't have any input from personal experience.

There are a TON of different procedures to pull the engine. Just what's preference. Get me , Fd3BOOST and Dont be a rikki together....and we'll have it out in less than 45 minutes!

I've removed and replaced about 20 motors from FDs. I've never loosened or removed the ABS pump to get them in or out.
Remove the pass side door sill (pulls up) and remove the pass side kick panel (two plastic snap rivets), you'll see the ECU, unbolt it (3 10mm bolts) then unplug all 4 plugs (two of them go to the dash) and then remove the little olive drab colored metal cover for the engine harness on the firewall. Follow the harness up and unplug another couple plugs that plug into the dash harness. Then go to the engine bay and pull the harness gently, sometimes I have to push and pull a couple of times. It should come right out.
To put it back in without moving the ABS pump and get the rubber boot actually popped back into the firewall I use a long flat prybar and some silicone lube on the boot, it usually just pops back in.
Otherwise loosening the ABS pump isn't too hard and gives you some more room to deal.
