Talking Project just beginning (pics)

I just took the first steps to my engine rebuild project. I'll be posting more through out my project as I go. I'll include lots more pics, questions, updates, and storys. I hope I can contribute as much as possible to the forum. Sorry for the lack of pictures, my camera died after just 2 shots . I'm only available to work on it Fridays and Sundays because of my work/school schedule, so look for updates those days. Hope to hear from all of your replies back. Check back for more pics .

-Kevin

have fun.. I like the shot of you guys looking at the engine out of the car. Looks like your just saying.." I don't know, now what!!"

Here is what , take a deep breathe, grab an engine stand and tear it apart very slowly and be **** about pictures and such. It will help you out a ton at the end of the project when you go back together.

Good luck.

Big Update!! PICS!!

Thanks for your replies back . So far its been a very easy enjoyable project when i get the time to work on it. Ok, since my first post I have done alot of work. Last friday I took off the tranny and some of the accessories and some other parts. Got a few pics but the camera died again because the batteries were jacked from the T.V. remote. I'll post those pics first.

ok..... that was friday. Yesterday (Sunday), I got new batteries for the camera and finished up the work for the week. Here are alot more pics from Sunday for all of you that care. I wouldn't mind suggestions/comments or criticisms as long as they might help me. Yes i know its not the "perfect" engine rebuild environment but atleast I have a garage to work in . With that said here are the pics.

Did you disconnect the oil cooler lines or cut them, they look sorta cut in one of those pictures. Did you run into trouble with them, im pulling my motor next weekend also, but i dont have my turbos on or wirirng harness or cooling system so it's gonna be fairly simply. Just curious about those lines.

I too am curious of the cost break down of all the lines that you are replacing.. How hard was it removing the tranny with the engine? Good luck with your rebuild

Thats why I bagged and tagged everything and took pictures

As for the cost.... not quite sure yet, but I know its not going to be cheap!.. I'm still waiting to open the engine to see exactly what I need from the rebuild kits. I am also going single so my total cost will be in thousands. I'll let you all know as I spend it . Thanks for the replies so far.

And removing the engine w/ the tranny wasn't that difficult. No different from any other engine.

Pics Update!!!

Ok, finally got some more work done to the engine. Only got a few hours in but I got the engine down to the bare block. Here are some pics. Enjoy! First 5 are of the rasts nest under the UIM, UIM, and throttle body. I will also weigh parts on request as soon as i get a scale . Also not sure if i'm going to replace the wiring harness. I'm thinking I might because when I move any part of it, the cover snaps .
