Problems with 3rd gen rx7
my friend just got a 93 TT with 26k miles on it. The problem is that around 5k rpms when the second turbo should come online it makes a weird noise like a goose got caught in one of the belts. Is this the #2 turbo going out or what? I havent had him pull of ic piping to see if there is oil in there but what else should i look for. I havent ever worked on an rx7 before?

Well, the first thing to help diagnose boost problems is getting and installing a boost gauge.

After that, check the boost pattern using the boost test:

That will give a good indication on where to start looking for problems.
Also, is the car completely stock?

What Mahjik said. If you're getting a wrong boost pattern it's almost always going to have SOMETHING to do with 1 of the 70+ vacuum lines we have hiding under the hood.
BTW...beautiful MKIV you've got there. Yours is the only yellow Supra I've ever liked.

thanks guys..he has a boost gauge, dp, exhaust and it hits about 15 psi then all of a sudden it drops to like 2 pounds from 5k on up ??? i looked at the vacuum hose diagram and decided that i wouldnt do that yet..im just gonna unplug another one and see if it stays the same or changes it.

Upgraded ECU
Upgraded IC
The fuel system is the part that people will disagree. Some shops/people say the stock fuel system is fine for 15 PSI, some say it's not.
The best way to tell is to get at least those two things upgraded and get the car on a dyno to see what the A/F ratios are looking like (and maybe add a Fuel Pressure gauge to see how the stock fuel pump is holding up).

IMO, if you don't have any boost problems, leave the vacuum lines alone. There is absolutely no reason to change them on a low mileage FD unless there is a problem.
As for the turbo piping, aside from the Efini Y-Pipe, the rest of the piping is really just for looks.
