Problem contolling boost on NS setup

I have been running NS turbos this year, done right, and the WG ported. I have been controlling boost with an avc-r at 15psi. The other day my boost just kept building and it hit 23psi before I noticed and let off. I have tried going to my 12psi map on the avcr, turning it off, running a vacuum line straight to the WG actuator (which should give me 7psi spring pressure I think), and have replaced my WG actuator. I don't know what else to look at, it just started doing this suddenly and I need to get this fixed. I have also disconnected the rod from the WG and it the WG moves freely so it is not stuck. Its no fun not being able to get on it, and it is supposed to go to the dyno next week.

Thanks,

Nick

Holly **** 23 psi??!?!!?
whak kinda fuel managment you runnin?? your engine shoulda poped, damn you lucky
well if you running a press line right off the turbo, to the wg and you have a ported wg theres no way you boost should kreep that high unless the other side of the actuator isnt capped....

there was a thread abt the profec b abt a week ago...theres 2 nipples on the wg actuator one should get the out line from the avcr, profec, or just from the turbo nipple in this case....and the other MUST be capped if not the wg actuator never gets boost to push the wg open...hence you wg isnt opening, and books keeps on rising,,,if its not that mabe the wg flap came off??!!!?? other than that i cant think of anything

I freaked, I don't know how there was no detonation, I'm running an M2 stage 3 ecu at 15psi. The other side is capped. I don't understand what is happening because it has been working perfectly all year, I have had my boost set at 10, 12, and 15psi with no creep up until now, and I didn't change anything when it started doing this.

Cold Weather?

Is it possible that the weather recently turned colder in your area and the colder air is contributing to boost creep?

Can you put your stock cat back on (just for a test) to see if you can control boost with the added restriction?

Hey MeLoN350, you have the M2 ECU? I thought it couldn't handle a non-sequential mod?

I have the Stage 3 ECU as well, I was worried about my 14.5psi boost creep with my midpipe, but I guess the ECU runs a lot richer than I thought.

What other mods do you have? How long have you had the M2 and non-sequential combo running? I wanna go non-sequential too

welcome to my world!!!

im running 1.16-1.5 bar boost which would be just about as high as you are running, i try not to go up that high but some times it just does. funny thing is that my air/fuel ratio is always at rich. oh well if you cant find a fix for you high boost, let me know ok. what did you air/fuel ratio say?

also, how fast does your boost rise and what mods do ya got??? mines goes up like a rocket and i gotta keep letting off the gas to keep from over boosting!

Yeah, I'm pushing with 15psi, I was doing it on my blown motor, but liked it and didn't drop it back down with my new motor.

I'm running: DP, SR resonated MP, Dual N1's, M2 stage 3, avcr, NS turbos, M2 large intercooler, and open K&N's.

I'm sure the cap is on real good, it was on my old WG actuator good, and I put it on my other one real good too. One thing that is real wierd is that I can hear kind of a metal clanging sound like my wastegate is not closed all the way or something (actually sounds just like when I had the WG welded open instead of the PC...Oops!), and my boost is now taking forever to build, but it just keeps building.

I have been running this setup all year and loved it up untill now, the car runs real strong, ran a 12.6@118 with a 2.3 60ft due to horrible wheel hop, capable of much better if I bring that 60 down.

What kind of ECU are you running 1.5 bar with, if you have stock injectors still your nuts! 1 bar is really as high as you would want it and even that is pushing it. What were you reading your a/f with, if it was just a normal gauge and not a wideband that reading is useless. Hope you have an upgraded fuel pump to.

Nick
