pricing on 94 compared to 93

what notable differences are there between 1994 and 1993 rx-7's? is there any particular reason why at 1994 would command a higher selling price compared to a 1993? aside from the fact that 1993 was produced in much higher numbers, would 1994's be more expensive simply because fewer were made? thanks.

This was talked about many times, but yes. Given same condition cars - 94 and especially 95 gets more $$

Interior is different. diff cradle is different. abs is different (not sure if it is an actual different unit, or just different placing). Fuel tank is different. I/c pipes are different colors. And the 94-95 have some kind of magic pixie dust flowing through the exhaust system everytime you boost or something...

thanks, it makes some sense because obviously older cars should cost less. but mechanically and overall, they are almost identical right?

do a search there's good thread on this subject.

I think a 94 is worth 2 to 3k more unless you have a child under 8. Then the passenger side airbag can limit it's use

I really prefer the interior in the 94-95s after setting in my friend's 93...especially the black interior. There is also some insulation doors that don't make them sound like hollow.

All the differences are pretty minor though..

93's don't have dual air bags like the 94-95's

early 93's have flakey cheap black paint on the center counsel. 94-95 were much improved

94-95's have better orginal paint jobs. The soo called hi reflex paint as very shitty on the 93's.

94-95's were more refined with softer suspensions and were less harsh.

94-95 naturally had more of the upgraded parts that failed on the 93 models making them way more reliable.

93 had R12 freeon while most 94-95 had r134a.

Bottom line, if you can find a 94-95 model, you will be doing yourself a huge favor as these are the much better models.

My 94 is 2 months older than yours (9/93). My interior is flawless (except for the coin tray) . The two previous owners of my car kept it garaged. Garaged kept cars are a premium. Hell you can still smell the orginal new car smell and my leather is still very soft.

It also helps if car was tinted. I had tint all bad and bubbled when I got car, but interior and hatch area nice and black.

I' ve had both .94+ cars just feel more solid. There were several refinements in the suspension, chassis, along with interior finish and additional sound deadening. I would definately go with a 94+ if you can find/afford one. I spent a tone of time and money trying to get my 93 to feel as tight as my 94 did. I refinished the interior panels, added sound deadening, even put foam between panels to prevent creaking and rattles. Still the 94 felt tighter.

alot of odds and ends were fixed when the 94 was made. the 93 has many recalls that can cause problems unless a dealership has fixed them. so did the 94 but not as serious. 94 in my opinion is much much better then the 93.

White was offered in the 94' +, while CYM was only offered in 93' R-1 models.

94'+ models also came available with a glass sunroof (which I personally don't like).

You can always tell the interior of a 94+ not only by the dash, but the instrument cluster. The 93's show every single mark on the tach, however the 94's show rpm measurements by 5's. (hope that makes sense)
