Prepping for next winter's Project Now

I decided to go full Non Sequential on my car. Not because the Sequential system wasn't working, but more I want to simplify working on the car and remove the emissions that make this a little more error prone than it should be. Plus a little more power will be in order with a newer tune to accomdate for some of the minor mods I have made.

With all that being said (and with the Rats nest out) The last piece of the puzzle I need to complete is fuel delivery. I want to upgrade the fuel system to prep for next years single.

WIth this last piece I have selected the CJ Motorsports top feed fuel rail, and the FPR they sell. My only concern is finding all of the appropriate top feed replacements for the stock injectors. CJ sells adapter rings for the top feed injects to fit right in, and I have decided to go with 550s and 1600s (of some sort) to prep me into the 400 range for next year.

The question I have is which injectors should I go with and what are the appropriate sizes to fit in properly on top feeds. I don't think Bosch sells 550s in top feed on High Impedence anymore, but I can still get their 1680s. (high impedence for the PFC means now need for resistors right?) Anyone have an injector preferencewith these rails?

wait... you're changing out the primaries too? just leave the stock primaries alone, remove the FPD, and put the secondary 1600s and secondary rail and FPR in and you're good to go (not quite that easy, but you get the point). I'm doing this in the near future myself actually, but I'm already non-sequential and without airpump.

How much power would you like to make?

Shooting for 350ish (if I am lucky with my current Setup) and then next year I want to go 400-450ish and will probably hold there.

I am in process of removing my turbos and cutting the flappers and the porting the wastegate.

I thought the CJ motorsports kit would replace the primary and the secondary rail with a top feed? Guess I will need to relook at that setup. If I don't have to buy primaries to I am game with that.

The CJ kit comes with the Primary Rail replacement which I gather will provide a cleaner look and better flow. If I was to replace the Primary Rail also, finding the top feed 550s will be the pain. Someone has mentioned the 2nd Gen T2 uses 550 top feed on the primary rail. Could I make those work as an option?

Id just go 1300cc's on secondary, that should be plenty for stock twins.

PFC.
Currently has a Steve Kan 6pull dyno tune on it with 550s and 1200s on secondary. I just pulled all emissions and have the nest out. With it I am taking out the fuel rails and my wife sad to buy an expensive part for our Anniversary (Love that) so I am going to prep for next year.

High Impedence ='s no resistors with the PFC right?

correct, I'm assuming this is what you're looking at?

honestly, this is what I would get, it's more than enough for your goal, plus it's less money, and less hassle. You need new clips for the injectors so since you're cutting the wiring harness you might as well put resistors in and spend less money on the whole deal.

Yeah the CJ guys are local to me so it makes it easier to go with their product, and i like how it is put together.

Great point on needing new clips, forgot about that. I thought I saw KG sells premade Mazda to Bosch top feed clips so you don't have to cut your harness.

I also heard 850s on the primary rail is VERY hard to tune the idle to. I have read a fair number of people running 400 - 450 with 550s and 1680s will suffice just shy of 80% inj duty cycle.

If I wanted to swap out to large Inj next winter, I guess I easily could. But back to the other question, would the top feed T2 550 injector work with this setup?

yes, 850s are harder to tune idle with the PFC, you have to start playing around with injector lag, if you're in chuck's PFC tuning group there's good instructions, if not, join and get them, lot of knowledge there.
It's also easier to do the primary rail than the secondary rail.
and if you're going with the top feed 550s, I would assume they work as long as you get the correct clips and find out if the voltage range is correct, but I don't know exactly what it is so you would have to go check the FC section, rx7 store sells 550 top feeds for 85/150 dollars

oh, and I meant to post this yesterday, but forgot
can you post a link to the kit you're looking at? you can easily get by on the stock 550 primaries and the 1600 secondaries, I just picked up some 1600s, a rail, an FPR, and a greddy elbow (not fuel related but it was part of the deal) used in the FS section for 400 dollars. if you can buy a used top feed rail and get new injectors, you'll be doing it for 300 plus the cost of the rail, which shouldn't be too expensive.
