FL Pre-Dyno Checklist

Hey guys,

So i'm just about ready to get my car dyno tuned

I've been searching around and done all the necessary checks and fixes to make sure the car is ready.

I couldn't find a Pre-Dyno Checklist on here though, if there is one could someone post up the link for it.

If not then this a good opportunity to get one going.

So, if you guys could please help me out with a Pre-Dyno Checklist to go through to make sure things go as well as possible on dyno-day

Thanks!

-VJ

Just make sure the car is driving good and has fliuds topped off with no leaks, fresh gas, and reasonably fresh plugs and oil (< 200 miles or so is fine).

Make sure no lose wires or lose parts, bolts , etc.
Plus what he said above.
Also make sure the tuner goes gradually up in boost when tuning. A few more hours on the dyno is definitely worth it instead of a new motor.

Tighten your BOV spring all the way down.

This was on my checklist and I thought I would do it "once I got there" and forgot and it impeded my high boost tuning.

Don't know what access you have to race gas, but I always throw in a few gallons of 100 unleaded before I take the car to the dyno. It's always nice to have that safety barrier in case something goes wrong or your tuner messes up. That and most dyno's I've ran into don't always have the proper fan setup to replicate air flow levels you would get on the street with the same amount of load.

Learned this the hard way when a certain tuner in Columbus OH decided to rescale my map for higher boost and forgot to rescale the ignition tables. Broke apex seals on the front and rear rotors that day.

oh and not to mention it doesnt idle well either...gota give it a tiny bit of gas to keep it going
everything works well when i keep it alive, i figured the tuner would be able to fix the idle with the computer settings and messing with the throttle body screws

heres what it idles like:

yes the pump has been re-wired as per the write up on this forum with a relay and the power wire directly to the battery

I'm glad I stumbled upon this thread...getting tuned tomorrow. The very first time I got tuned, I thought I had everything covered, but I had a random air leak that we could not find. Wasted about 3-4 hours trying to find it...never did. The tuner did the best he could do, car made good power and drove wonderfully, but I was embarrassed and upset that I somehow overlooked this. I got home and started tearing the car apart in search for this mysterious air leak...turned out to be the intercooler was punctured with a decent hole from like a metal rod or something (it was midway through the core and impossible to see, I only found it by pouring water in the intercooler and testing for leaks) and that was leaking enough air to prevent the car reaching its full potential. I'll just end my post saying this quadruple check EVERYTHING...even things you think couldn't be a problem.
