powerfc

alright guys..heres the dilemma...i live in japan..currently own an s13..and have a bud in yokota who has a friend selling an fd3s for cheap so im planning to buy it...

problem: single turbo conversion, powerfc removed and replaced with stock ecu so the car thinks its still twin turbocharged...wonderful....the guy is selling it for less than 3,000 usd cuz he has to move out of japan ASAP...

questions: how would the car run without buying a powerfc with a commander at low rpms and at high? i want to be able to run it on a weekly basis before i get the money for a powerfc without many problems...the engine is rebuilt and strong as mike says...what other problems might i encounter?

thanks,

mark

problem #1 ->blown engine....the only way you could drive it is by somehow getting it in limp mode where it wont allow boost or high rpms

You'd better live somewhere pretty flat - it doesn't take much hill with much throttle to push the boost way high very quick. It would suck to blow your engine in 2nd gear going 35 up a hill. IMO the Power FC is very cheap insurance up front. Leave the car sit until you have it installed.

just try to buy his since it is already tuned and your friend can buy a new one or at least try to copy his maps before he leaves so you can download it to your PFC and get a datalogit it will help more than a commander
