I removed the P/S (loop line), went for a drive, and immediately put it back in.

For a track car, it would be a worthwhile mod to get a Maval rack.

For a street car, I don't see the point myself.

For autox, forget it. Put some sticky tires on your FD and you will not be able to quickly negotiate slaloms or other fast transitions.

Something to think about: You can get used to anything. i.e. people get used to really stiff suspensions. I thought my RX7 was fairly smooth. Drove/tracked my M3 for a few years then came back to the RX7; it felt like there was no dampening or anything. Very rough, however at the time I was used to it.

Removing PS, you'll probably get used to it. However, if you read the comments of the guys who own 2 RX7's at the same time (one with PS and one without who can do direct comparisons daily); they are saying they would have PS in both......

Something else to think about..... re-sale value. Along the lines of removing ABS, AC, maybe even an SRS equipped wheel, I suspect it would adversely affect it unless that buyer only has the track in mind.

If you have a job and a life, you won't have enough time to waste doing that.

It's funny how often this comes up.

Seriously, a maval racked car is not bad, I street drive and parallel park my car all the time. Used to be, plenty of sports and sporty cars didn't come w/ PS at all in the first place. My first '76 VW Scirrocco didn't have it, and the wheel was about as hard to turn on some occasions as my FD's is.

It is made from billet, and is a manual rack. It is a lot smoother than the standard rack so although it will require more obvious effort than a P/S rack, it will be a lot more efficient due to the nature of the way the gears are made than converting a standard rack.

It will save you approximately 8.5kgs over the standard setup, and tidies the engine bay dramatically.

I have quickened up the rack from 3 turns lock to lock to 2.4 turns. This was to get the best compromise between fighting to get the lock on when catching a slide, and being too skittish arising to over compensation.

We are currently in the process of manufacturing a number of LHD units, and we have already had a number of enquiries about these.

The unit price is £690 + P&P + VAT

Many thanks again for the enquiry

However, it is kind of expensive.
$1000 + Postage and packing + Value Added Tax

pm me if you're interested, and I'll see if we can get a group buy price.

No not really, jkstill looked into it and since the power steering control is integrated into the ecu it's really not feasible.

Do they make a replacement quick ratio rack that can be converted into the stock rack with retained power steering?
