interesting link but his problem is that nothing works..
My lights work and they do pop up when lights when lights are turned on, they just don't pop down.
I have already located the relay and *** far as I can tell, it works normal.
But I've been told that there is also some kind of a control box for the lights. I just don't know where it is

Short summary,
i bought the car with a broken engine.
Lights were working but only the passenger one poped up, the drivers side stayed down.
I found out a short cut in the drivers' side motor so i bought a new set of frames with new motors.
After hooking them up both lights poped up (when turning on lights) but do not close when turning of the lights.
The manual button doesn't work either (nor to open or close)
So this pretty much is an electrical problem rather than a mechanical. I checked the relay already and that seems to work fine.
I was told the pop up lights have a control box of some sort but I haven't been able to locate it for checking.

i think the button hes refering to is the emergency high beam button on the left hand side, but the twist **** still pops up the lights. I would first check the wires to see if it has any problem with the wires, if not then get a power curcit to see if theres any power to the switch!

so I changed my headlamp motors and now both lamps pop up when turning on the lights BUUUUT they don't go down when turning them off.
Anybody got some hints? Is there only one relais to make this work or multiple? And where do I find them

Pop ups: electrical problem.help needed
So my pop up headlights won't turn down.
Brief situation.
- turn lights on-> lights flip up, lamps turn on
- turn lights off-> lamps go out, lights stay up
Checked:
- motors work both ways when directly switched off the battery OK
- engine bay relay works OK
- checked dashboard manual button. works OK buuuuuut.... the workshop manual (page T-70) says the pins shoud read as follows:
switched OFF: pin A,B,C -> 12v
switched ON: pin B,C -> 12V
Now... when i make a direct connection between C and B the lights flip up, when I make a direct connection between A,B, C the lights continiously flip up and down..
Leaves me to think that my CPU2 is fried....
Any other hint would be highly appreciated
Neal

This makes me think that there is a mechanical limit switch (or the wiring to it) in the headlamp assembly that is not making contact as it should when the lights are up. The continuously flipping up & down has been a symptom of a bad (or misaligned, etc.) limit switch on other cars I have owned. I've not had that problem in the FD, so this is just a guess.
