Polycarbonate Windshield Install

Wondering if anyone knows a glass guy/shop in SoCal area that has some experience installing plastic windshields. Most companies I've talked to don't want to touch it.

I have the shield (Plastics4Performance), moldings, and special adhesive in hand, just need an installer that knows what they're doing.

Any info is appreciated!

Yeah, that's not something a glass place will touch. You probably want to talk to a shop that specializes in race car builds. That is the only kinda shop that would occasionally install a polycarbonate windshield.

You might be able to get a glass company to come by and remove your windshield, then you can install the polycarbonoate yourself

Apples and oranges, but I installed my lexan rear window on a CF hatch with a friend - wasn't too bad of a DIY

You can also check in with Heath at SakeBomb - looks like his track toy has a polycarbonate windshield, he might be able to help you out with installing yourself or point you in the right direction for someone in Cali

Good luck! Post some pics after you get it sorted

^The polycarbonate windows on that car were not installed at SB. The PO did that ages ago.

interesting website; seems odd that they didn’t have any installation advice listed though.

You might look for a body shop that does work with custom/aftermarket stuff. Typically they have a "window guy" that comes and does their glass work, and the shop with ongoing relationship will have more luck convincing them to do it than a private person will.

Ty all for the info. I found one mobile glass guy who has never done it before and wants $300. Seems kinda high to me considering there's no glass currently - was removed during cage fabrication. Not sure about being a $300 guinea pig.

I also contacted GMG (I'm sure they have experience with this type of thing), but they have not gotten back to me.

The cool thing with P4P is they come in the exact shape of the factory pieces and install is just like OEM. They also have some nice finishing options like the black boarders...even a factory looking "dot matrix" style boarder.

As far as I can tell P4P is the way to go.

looks like it didn’t go quite right for him the first time; a wise man learns from the mistakes of others, so take heed:

I have P4P +4mm hardcoated rear window and side windows (for RX8). Installed at motorsports shop in NorCal. Fitment is just like oem and their site offers decent options.

There really wasn't any other obvious choice imo when I was searching.
