polishing advice...

I figure since I have my motor apart I would do some polishing, a little bling bling never hurt anyone! So far I have the intake pipes (aftermarket), alternator housing, throttle body and upper intake manifold, aftermarket AST, PFS intercooler, Greddy intake pipes, and smog pump ready to take to the polisher.....
Question #1; did I miss anything?
Question #2; since I have the alt. apart should I have it rebuilt. It looks dirty and a lot of the insulation has chipped off.
Question #3; I'm struggling to get the UIM apart. However, when I do should I take the part to a machine shop and polish out the poorly bored out ports and what looks to be burnt fuel residue in the throttle throats!
Any other advice welcome

stuff I'm having done to motor;

SR radiator
SR lightened flywheel, clutch, and pressure plate
HKS twin power ignition
new primary turbo cartridge
upgrade to 1250cc secondary's and cosmo fuel pump
all cooling hoses and vacuum lines replaced with silicone ones.
3mm mazdaspeed apex seals
street port
reprogram my PFC (a given)
mazdaspeed short shifter
unorthodox pulley set (already there but powdercoating red)
Hawker Genesis 1200PC battery
Hi flow cat

let me know if I forgetting anything!!! OR if anyone has any advice on what I'm doing!!!

Wow, sounds like a lot of work, good stuff too You may want to send the alternator to gotham racing for the polishing/rebuild.
While you have all of that stuff out you may want to think about polishing the water pump houseing and the thermostat/water filler neck. Couldn't hurt. While that is off you may want to change the thermostat since it's probally about 10 years old, couldn't hurt to have a new one. Also while your doing a new radiator you may want to think about switching to Evans NPG + waterless coolant. A lot of people have chosen this route including me. I haven't put mine in yet only because im running the sierra through it still. But everyone who uses it has had good experiances with it. I have never heard of anyone polishing the air pump, but let us know how it comes out. You also may want to go with the B & M short shifter instead. I haven't heard much about the mazdaspeed short shifter, but the B & M is very nice. Im assuming that you will be purchasing some sort of an exhaust? I would highly recommend either an M2 dual tip if you want a stock look or a JIC or canister style exhaust. With all of this you will probally be pushing around 380 HP or so. Maybe a little more, depending on the tuning. Anyway hope this helped and good luck

Frankadelic: I'm in San Rafael too. Is Kim at Pilgrim doing your polishing? BTW, I have a polished water filler neck you can use. Give me a call 383-4700. Tom

Hey thanks for the good advice definitely take those suggestions under advice. Right now I'm running a Blitz catback (NUR) and a M2 downpipe, however your suggestion regarding dual tipped exhaust is noted since I will eventually change to that look as I feel the coffee can exhaust is a little much for me.

Just finished polishing the y - pipe. While I think I did a better job than if I paid someone else --- the best advice I can offer is to pay someone else!!!!
