Pineapple Racing Idler Kit Uneven Belt Wear

So after about 500 miles, I've noticed the new belt that comes with the idler kit from Pineapple racing is wearing on the outside of the belt (non-ribbed part) closest to the engine. It appears to be rubbing on the coolant filler neck. When installed, clearance was checked and was okay.

Anyone seen this before? Anyone have any good tips remedying this without grinding down a small part of the filler neck?

The belt provided with the kit (stock pulley) is a 420K5. I'm quite pleased with the kit, just don't like the uneven belt wear.

I had to grind a bit just to keep it from doing that. It's not much so don't worry about breaking anything.

did you read the instructions on shaving the slag off of the filler neck? Mine had these instructions included with the kit. Basically you needed to shave some of the aluminum away to make clearance.

Kind of glad I didn't pick this up as I would have had to mess up the powder coat finish on my filler neck.

IIRC, I read that some casings will clear, and some make contact...

Yeah, the v1.01 directions found online don't reference any filing of the filler neck. The ones provided with the kit say the minimum clearance is 0.032". This clearance was checked and verified but I'm still seeing some rubbing.

Nashman do you have any feeler gauges to check the clearance you have between your belt and filler neck?
