I would like to go, but I get so busy at work and after work. I'll try maybe next weekend or so.

Thanks for the heads up.

ps- check out the Houston/Woodlands/Teaworks meet every Saturday night. Teaworks is located on 11509 Veterans Memorial, south of 1960, north of beltway 8. It is less than one mile north of the beltway 8 feeder. Many cool cars show up and there's security.

I found a pristine Silver '95 R2 (only 16 imported I believe) with less than 20k miles. It has a few mods. The seller wants $22,000 for it. I'm thinking about buying it, what do you think?

R1's were only made in 93. R2's were only made in 94, 95 was just base, and PEP packages, hope that clears up any confusion.

How many cars do you have, and what types? How big is your garage, or hangar?

It's an R2, I would send an inspector to check out the car. Its priced right. Somebody buy it! Not sure if I can handle 3 rx7s, I'll be overwhelmed!

If it is indeed a 95, there is no way that it is an R2, it must be a 94.

Why is that? In 1995 there was an R2.

R2 Model - Manual Transmission
Silver Stone 16
Brilliant Black 18

Unless my mind is failing me, which is a strong possibility, i was under the assumption, from the supossed prod. #'s i saw, that there were only base and PEP's in 95.

Not to rewrite what has already been written:
Steve Cirian

If the question is is it an R1 vs an R2? then the answer is if it is a '93 then it is an R1. If it is a 94 or 95, then it is an R2.

If the question is is it truly an R?, then the answer is look at the title or window sticker, if you can. If not, check the following:

two oil coolers, drivers and passenger side. It is a lot of work to add the second cooler, so a lot of people that add the spoilers to make it look like an R are not going to go to the work of adding the passenger side cooler.

the seats are different. The Rs had suede-like seats. The Base models (at least my '95) had cloth ones with a weave to them that made them look a little like a checkerboard pattern (but all sqaures are black). The Touring/PEP/PEG models had leather. Dealers often swapped seather seats into Rs

the Rs were ALL manual transmissions

The Rs have stiffer front and rear anti-sway bars, stiffer springs, and maybe shocks, but this would be difficult to check and they would have probably been replaced anyway

the Rs should have a strut tower brace from the factory

the Rs have front and rear spoilers

the Rs did not have sunroofs

the Rs did not have a rear wiper

the Rs did not have the Bose Wave stereo

Someone did mention to me that in '95 there were only base models with popular equipment packages. Guess its not true. My 1995 RX7 brochure shows a R2 package if I remember correctly.

Knowing what I know now - that's a steal. If I hadn't sunk an obscene amount into my '93, I'd buy that.

Buy it. Silver is a very sexy color on the 7 but not quite as good as black. A little biased though.

a car with less than 22k miles is virtually brand new assuming that it hasnt been thrashed. when you consider how much it costs to go thru the reliability mods on a low mileage car plus the car cost, its really not to bad a price. get a carfax report, it tells a lot about the history and could reveal info critical to making a sound decision that you wont regret. i got the report and it was money well spent. it told me who owned it and when, whether it had been in any accidents, provided a history of factory call backs and updates and whether they had been done, registration info and mileage, average miles driven per year etc etc.

Our web site has been underconstruction since it started 6 months ago. There are a lot of pics of the car on there though.
The car is for our shop demo car.
I hope to get the car running within the next 2-3 months tops. I am going to try and get it running and tunned, along with working out any bugs before i paint the engine bay and finish the interior.
Probably won't be totally finished until i spend some time on it this winter.
I do have remorse. I did not plan on the project going this deep. I should have bought a high mileage car for much less!
