93 CYM 19K original miles / under destruction

I picked up a rare 93 CYM R1 from Palm beach FL with 19K original miles on it. 99%stock. Perfect, all original paint, no flaws at all. I bought the car as a clean start for my shop demo vehichle.

We tore it all apart and have a 20B installed, single turbo, nitros, full brakes and suspension, full weld in cage, full stereo system, etc.

Set to be a show car for my performance shop, hopefully finished before the end of summer.

Sorry for upsetting any enthusiusts but i would love to get my hands on another just like it with low miles just to drive, but man do they hold there value!

a3dcadman contact rich at gotham racing about the wheels they can hook you up with a better deal i think than most people. tell them sparkey sent you so they might give me a store credit. rich is a good guy and he can give the heads up. the gtn's that i want go for about 400 bucks a wheel. So you are looking at some cash for the wheels then you still need tires. I think the gram lights are a little more but not by much. Good luck give him a call or check out the site at www.gothamracing.com good guys all around. tell them i sent you though.

hey auto illusions,
if you consider what other vehicles go for that are 10+ years old and in good condition, id have to agree that fds do hold their value well. but i have to wonder if some of that value may be attributable to "fast & furious".

I think it is the tuning market in general. not the actual movie as much but it probably does have influence. When the first movie come out, Neon lighting was on back order and in scarce supply for over 6 months as was nitros kits! That i can say for sure as i experienced it through our store!

If you don't have a web host and you can't attach files to your posts because of the size, try this to make them smaller: Assuming you're using a Windows OS, go into Microsoft Paint, "Image" on the menu bar, scroll down to the "Stretch/Skew..." option, under the horizontal and vertical fields, type in 80% or whatever percentage you like as long as it is not too small a number as the picture will become too choppy looking, then save as a .jpg file, and upload your pic.

Yeah I wanted to buy that one, but I think the price was pretty ridiculous. Do you remember how much they sold it for? I was willing to pay like $25k for it.

The wheels are made by Volk, but they are branded as Gram Lights.

Just depending on the weather or my mood, thats how I decide which car to pick. The silver one is loud as sh*t! Sometimes I just don't want all the noise.

i thinks it finally went for $30k. i saw pics and got the low down on the car from shawn. sweet machine. do you do all your own work on these vehicles. for me it a labor of love. my girlfriend complains about me spending to much time, always rubbing, stroking and playing with my black bitch. hehe. i find it quite therapeutic, relaxing, exciting and stimulating. hmmm. i get the impression that you are a true aficionado.

what does that particular volk wheel retail for? do you know what they weigh?
thanks,
chuck

The wheel is a Gram Light 57Pro made by Volk. They weigh about 18lbs for 18". They go for $400-$500, I think it was $30 per wheel for gunmetal finish. Very good powder coating process. They are two piece wheels with the polished lip.

I am very passionate about RX7s you can say. I have been waiting patiently since 1993 for the right time to buy. I've test drove and kept up with them over the years. It wasn't until now that I have the time and money to buy one (or two).

I'm very happy with them both. I spent $200 a piece to have them inspected to make sure I'm getting the perfect FD.

Are you referring to Shawn at Jeff Haas? If so he is a buddy of mine.

tad - re: original unoriginal miles.............
havent you heard of the VIRTUAL MILES anomaly - merely a pigment in our imagination - brought on by dopplar inversion in a coreolis slip stream while driving these little rockets. hehe

and yes to shawn at jeff haas. hes kool. have made his acquaintance during the last few months. in fact he got a preview of one of my posted pics.

They are discontinued, was made by Edelbrock. I was told I bought the last full set in polished. I bought 5 wheels in case one got damaged. I'm thinking about putting it on my GTO or Camaro.

I used Coast 2 Coast inspection. I really recommend it for out of sight purchases.

http://www.c2c-auto.com/

I paid for the best package, considering RX7s are known for many issues.

Turbotuner- You missed the Houston RX-7 meet last Tuesday night. Check out the Regional forum section under south. Lotta nice FDs were there plus 1st & 2nd gens. Hope to see you at the next one!

Doc
The Woodlands

ps- check out the Houston/Woodlands/Teaworks meet every Saturday night. Teaworks is located on 11509 Veterans Memorial, south of 1960, north of beltway 8. It is less than one mile north of the beltway 8 feeder. Many cool cars show up and there's security.
