pics of 1 piece thermostat housing, no AST elimination possible.
Hey guys,
I've seen it mentioned in a few other threads, but I've never seen some pics of it, so I thought I'd post up pics of mine.
So, for future reference, here is the 1 piece thermostat housing from the early 93 FDs. Mine is a JDM 93. As you can see, there is no way to replace the filler neck with the FC one to eliminate the AST.
The only solution that I'm aware of is to replace the whole housing with a later FD one, then swap the filler neck for the FC version.
Does anyone know if you can just swap over the whole FC assembly?

i never seen one of those, the fc waterpump won't fit i think it rotates the wrong way. Buy the thermostat housing in the classifieds i know i have at least three of them laying around.

Does anyone else have a JDM FD and can verify this?

That is probably correct.
The one piece neck is standard if you get a reman.
If you are looking for a 2 piece housing, post up in the Classifieds here.

Wouldn't that cause A LOT of issues if I ever did overheat?
I thought the purpose of the FC neck was that it allowed you to install a pressure cap that would vent into the coolant tank if there was ever an overheating issue.
Without that, wouldn't the pressure just build up and blow out some other part of my system? Most likely my fancy new Samco hoses?
