Yeah, it has gotten louder over the years. May be the packing is blown out.
It is loud but not high pitch chain saw loud. More like a low frequency, i.e., bassy loud. Listen to a Honda RC51 V-Twin with pipes. It sounds like the Honda except when you're on boost, it sounds like a jet engine. Very good construction.
I want something quieter but don't feel like spending anohter $500.

I have a greddy SP exhuast and it's driving me nuts. I think the packing has blown. It was fine until I changed to a high flow cat. I have heard the old school HKS single tip and it's quite. I might go that route since it's much cheaper than the M2.

I've heard Goodfellas PFS exhaust and ridden in the car. It didn't seem to unbearably loud. But I don't see why a loud exhaust would bother you on a nondailydriven car.
I would say for a street car M2/Racing Beat
Weekend/Race Car I prefer maybe the PFS or Greddy.
All opinions though some aren't willing to give up quietness for performance. Some prefer to be heard from blocks away....

PFS isn't THAT loud... certainly not like an Apexi dual, or some of the many "GT" canister exhausts out there... and its very deep and mellow.
Its also about 18 lbs, which is lighter than almost anything out there for the money, and its very well made.

I've got a PFS catback with a dp and midpipe as well... At idle it's not very loud at all really, in the cab at least. Behind it it just sounds a little low and a bit more aggressive but not bad. When you get on it though it does roar a bit, and backfires of course are pretty common heh.

Jason, Racing Beat dual or single tip is the way to go ! Even with a DP, MP, it sounds good. With cats, nice mellow tone that comes alive when you get on it. Actually, I just saw one for sale here on the forum.
